photo lost by Ebay seller..

i ordered a photo canvas a while back & was very happy with it, so i wanted to order more, as i hadnt any decent pics to send the seller by email on my computer & had no scanner at the time , they said to send the actual picture by recorded post, to which i did, it was a professional picture we had taken of our daughter on holiday that i took out of the frame & sent to them, anyway the canvas never came, i sent them email after email & they would just say tomorrow it should come, then they suddenly stopped doing the canvases but reassured me my canvas would still come,
well it never did, i had to file a dispute with Ebay & after a while i got refunded through Paypal, the real upset here though is the lost photo
i contacted the seller & asked them if they had sent the canvas by recodred delivery & could i have a tracking no or something to try to somehow track the pic & canvas but they never replied, is there anything i can do, or is it a huge lesson for me to learn from?
thankyou in advance.

I really have sympathy for you but feel you can do no more. I send a few personal tapes off for converting. I always send by Special Delivery and enclose a pre paid Special Delivery envelope for returns - my heart is always in my mouth until they return.

ps Have you contacted Royal Mail with description etc. They will try and find it for you - but don't hold your breath!!Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -

Hi my heart goes out to you because if it is missing in the post you have probably lost your photo forever.foxymum1977 wrote: »yes thats what i think but why? why on earth would they want a photo of mine & ruin there ebay feedback as before this they had brilliant feedback, it just doenst make sense.
Now your canvas and photo has gone missing as they have been lucky with the post up untill now they just don't know what to do about it so they feel like they have no other option than to take the negative feedback and ignore your emails.
This does not excuse their behavior though they should at least try to help you by providing a tracking number or some other proof they have posted it to you so you have at least starting point to try to search for your photo.0 -
Did the recorded 'tracking' show that it arrived at the seller? My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

This maybe because they never had an item go missing before or any other problems occur for this reason I would avoid someone with a high feedback rating say 2000 to 3000 that is still at 100% for high priced or sentimental purchases as if something goes wrong they probably won't know how to put it right.

yes i agree with a lot of what you are saying, i couldnt even leave them negative feedback as they made their account (private) where you cannot see feedback! also as i left it so long hoping they would sort it out for me it went over the time limit to leave feedback anyay!
when i emailed asking for the tracking number they have just ignored me:(mummy to 3 monsters!

Don't take this the wrong way but did you personally take the picture?
If you went to a proffessional photographer you may actually be in breach of copyright to duplicate this image without formal permission of the original photographer. Just because you went to the photographer and paid for their services doesnt automatically give you rights on getting further prints or canvas prints of the same item from other sources. The above being said they should of course either contact you to confirm you own the copyright before making a copy or return the photo to you giving guidance that they were not able to produce a copy of the image due to suspected copyright infringement.
If you have the original photographers details they may still have the negative / digital image and therefore be able to provide canvas prints from the original.
Best wishes in getting your original image back.0 -
