after all its a photo of my daughter so surely i can get it copied?
Just because you purchased an image of your daughter, doesn't give you the authority or right to get a copy without the photographers permission, - it's a breach of copyright for you to get a copy of the image without the photographers consent.
If you really want a canvass image, you may still be able to get one (and a copy of the original) from the photographer. Many photographers keep images on file, for quite a while. Some use images for their own promotions (while some get model release forms, the model release forms don't legally hold any ground as the copyright owner is the photographer).
If you do go back to the photographer, it may be better just to say that the image was damaged and you want it replaced. Saying that you sent it away for someone to make a copy of it without their consent could land you in hot water.
I appriciate it may be a little difficult contacting the photographer if they're in Turkey, but google their name (or the place where you got it done and "photography"), you never know, their website may come up.If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!0 -
foxxyminx is right, even if we buy a print of a photo of oursellf we do not own the copyright.
Unfortunately I can't see what else you can do here unless someone can think of any 'laws' that would mean a small claims court for loss of property was possible?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
