Which car

  • Why not let the present Vectra run for a few more years, take a few sensible precautions with it, like keeping it well serviced and treat it kindly.
Pay up the loan as soon as possible, then sit back and take a long look at exactly what you want from your motoring, there's something very reassuring about not owing anyone a bean, i wouldn't take finance out under any circumstances.

The Vectra is a perfectly sound car and good value, don't be tempted by the well written sales blurb, like politicians they tell you what you want to hear through forked tongues.

im looking for a newer motor i have a 06 plate vectra 1.8vvt sri at the mo with 42000 on the clock there is around 4000 outstanding on it and vauxhall have just offered a trade in price of £5500 (more than i thought).
however im trying to save a bit of money each month i pay £235 each month at the moment looking to drop that around to the £200 a month or less if poss the tax is £97 for six months.
im looking for a car with same sort of size but cheaper each month and road tax cheaper any idea's because i have been racking my melon for hrs and no further down the line infact i spend my time looking at cars well over my budget all help very welcome

Surely if its vauxhall have offered the trade in price, then you're going to be quite limited to what you can buy (ie, they are most likely to stock vauxhalls?)

I'd have thought, given you've £1500 to play with that you'd be looking at a car of around £8000, using your £1500 deposit and paying approx £200 a month over three years.

Realistically, thats going to get you maybe a 2008 but probably a 2007 vectra similar to yours, therefore i'm not quite sure what you'd be achieving?

If you financed over 4 years you'd get up to a 2008 car with a decent spec, probably costing around £9500.

Again, not sure what youd be achieving?

Its also worth noting that similar cars by other manufacturers will cost roughly the same.

    maka,
I can understand why you might want to keep your self in an age of car still under manufacturers warranty (but not brand new) while paying a loan to make costs more predictable. I've done the sums and I know in terms of real cost it is no more expensive than carrying on with the older car years 4 and 5, 6 or 7 onwards and enough luck to avoid costly repairs and you can then win on running the older car.

As said, going for a similar size of car you won't be able to trim your costs by much, going diesel might save you a bit.
  • when i have bought cars i look on usedcarexpert.com its free(for up to 5 or 10 different cars) and lets you know what faults to look for for each model
sorry couldnt do a link because im new
