Son and Runescape

My son has been playing the free runescape for around 18 months and so do many of his school friends. He has only had the membership a few of months and i use it as a bribe that he has to do his homework when told to do with out grumping or any back chat and attitude or i wont buy next months membership.I purchase the membership by mobile credit (ie it gives you a code to your mobile, just like pigsback but it removes £5 from your balance)0

My eldest boys 10 and 11 are mad about this game. TBH it looks rather dull to me!0

I play it - it gives me something to do thats not connected with work and takes my mind off everything. I dont smoke or drink so for £3.15 (approx) a month I think its worth it (that and my dvd rental are the two vices in my life).
I also play neopets
But thats free and ive also been playing it more than 6 years. :j Draco dormiens nunquam titillandus :j0 -
Is there an age limit on Runescape - my eight year old is pestering me - but I'm sceptical about letting him on it! What do you guys think? ThanksSW: Wk1 (5) Wk2 (2.5) Wk3 - Wk 4 (4) Wk 5 - (1.5) Wk 6 (1) Total off 1 stone!:j0

My son only has a free account but complained frequently that his account had been hacked and his character stripped of every useful asset. Because of this, he rarely plays online anymore.
I worry more about the addiction side of things - my son would be on the PC 24/7 given the chance and I personally don't think it's healthy. I have also noticed that when he does spend time on the game sites, his behaviour gets worse - he's more aggressive to his sister and generally stroppier. It's better to beg forgiveness than ask permission.0 -
Puzzle pirates is a 'safer' game than runescape - it seems to have a nicer / more friendly membership, and I know a lot of adults that play it.DFW Nerd No. 140

My two boys (aged 9 & 11) have been playing this for several months, I too am using 'membership' as a carrot to get homework done on time when the 11 year old starts senior school in Sept. I think it's a good way of learning about buying and selling, and even getting ripped off! It's a nasty world out there
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0
