Can they change the offer

In April Amex Blue card sent me an offer for 0% balance transfer for the life of the balance. Its in writing and established. I took up the offer in late May to fund a car purchase, then last week I thought I would have a bit more! Shock horror the customer service agent say Amex made a mistake and the 0% was infact only for 6 months.
Amex also say they contacted me ref the error (did they hell) anyway the transfer has taken place and I see on the latest satement Amex have refunded the set up fee. Interested to find out if they can change the rules after the event?

see this thread, there are a few more like this one on the site, your not alone. Unfortunately, there is not a lot that can be done about it, especially as they have ceased doing BTs for new customers.
