It will be fixed temporarily by a full reset...until the next time it freezes. VERY flaky technology compared with old-tech...my 10-year old VCR has never failed.

If you go and stand at the 'returns' department at John Lewis, you will see a steady stream of people returing these Freeview recorders. I won't be buying one until someone brings out a reliable model.

My 9200 can record 2 channels while replaying a recording. Inside is a complete Linux computer and like all computers, they've reached the point of being too complicated to be 100% reliable. I put up with occasional freezes as the benefits outweigh. But have never seen the over-recording issue.

I didn't realise so many other people had problems. I'll be watching live TV, or better still, less TV until something better arrives on the market.

Haven’t tried a Humax yet (!), but have had 2 Thomson & am on my 2nd Hitachi PVR (all replaced within a year (after searching for fix’s on the internet, finding that the problems I had were not uncommon), so to say they are more reliable than computers is rubbish.

I’m not giving up on the technology though (even if I still have to unplug the machine @ least once a week when it freezes)
