Door Slammed by Sky

Options
Cancelled all the direct debits last month to avoid any bank charges, Sky called today for payment which I made at or about 6pm during the call I was offered to setup a DD again and I explained why I didn't want to. That was followed very shortly after by a request for 2 months payment in advance because I didn't want to pay by DD.

In the end I had to give in, no way could I part with £108 this month! Why do companies like this get away with this crap!

What are these companies playing at!

It's a business decision and not personal. I expect they are trying to ensure they get paid for the services provided; pretty reasonable given the circumstances.

To be honest if you are finding money tight at the moment then Sky should be considered a luxury and not a necessity.

If you have sufficient funds in your account your bank should not be charging for direct debits, change your bank.

If you do not have the cash in your account then get rid of SKY and save yourself over £600/year, you can still use the box to get freesat from SKY at no cost.

This has just happened to us. I paid my sky bill late - was due on 4th and I didn't pay it until 19th. It was actually an oversight on my part. I don't want to pay by direct debit as I'm self-employed and there have been occasions in the past where the money hasn't been in the bank in time and I've been charged for it.

I paid my sky bill online via Sky yesterday ... i noticed today that I didn't have any channels to watch so rang them up. They told me that I had to set up a DD or pay two months in advance or they wouldn't reinstate my service. I replied that I was now paid up until 4 January so they were taking my money and not giving me the service. They said they were well within their right to do that. They said anyone who was late paying their bill from now on would be told this new regime when they rang up. When I asked if I could have it in writing they said they didn't have to do that.

How on earth can this possibly be legal?? How can they take my money and I be paid up until the 4 Jan but they can still refuse to reinstate my service unless I set up a DD or pay 2 months on top of what I've already paid.

I dont think the bank charges for direct debits, i presume the OP meant that the direct debits would take him into the red and then the charges would kick in.

I agree with your second statemnet, get rid of sky if you cant afford it.
    Simple.

OP, its hardly crap, if you owe the money of course they are going to chase you for payment. Wouldnt you? You use the service, you gotta pa
