Absolutely .. whether that be 2 x £500 or 1 x £1000. As long as £1000 is credited within the month ... that's all that matters to satisfy the T&Cs.

Halifax do not insist on you using the account otherwise .... no matter what some earlier posts infer.
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !

Wow thanks Dizzy and Mikeyorks! You're both stars.

Guys, so it does not even have to be in there overnight? Sorry to be picky - just want to make sure.

I can simply transfer it in, once it shows, the next minute transfer it out again right?

OH and I have 6 reward accounts between us.......1 joint that is our using account, plus I have 2 Halifax and 1 BOS, he has 2 Halifax. Our £1000 does the rounds of them, then it visits our daughter's Reward account (as a student she does not have a spare £1000) , then it goes to my Lloyds Vantage account.

So the £1000 is earning us a good rate of interest!

I believe you cannot have so many Reward accounts now, and have been expecting HBOS to close down some of ours, but meantime we are doing OK.

Where does the £72 in costs come from?

(Reward accounts are free as are classic Vantage accounts)

The Reward account has no monthly fee. So it's a £30 gain.

The Ultimate Reward account has a monthly fee of £12.50 and comes with a load of "extras" that you may or may not want. It's a different animal.

Yep, accounts are free, rewards are £30 per month for us, £5 for DD, and 4% on £7000 in Vantage account.

DD is opening Vantage a/c too, so I will cycle the £1000 through that too.

Amazing how much £1000 can earn if you use it wisely!!
  • Has anyone else noticed their Halifax standing orders not being made?

I got automated 'we decided not to make one of your payments because you didn't have enough money' letters when one of my daily (I cycle £150 around each of the accounts) standing orders just didn't happen. It's been working fine for months but now suddenly it looks like I'm going to have to log in every day to check up, or cancel all the automated payments and start moving money manually.

Obviously I'm reluctant to contact Halifax and have them look closely at the accounts as they'll clock I'm taking them for a ride - even though I'm not breaking any T&Cs... actually I do (in a paranoid way) suspect this is their way of getting me to stop the gravy train.
