Blood clot type thing in mince beef?

I've just had my shopping delivered from Tesco and in one of the packs of mince it looks as though there is a blood clot in it, i don't know what it is exactly as i haven't opened the packet. Is this normal? I have never seen it before... It's probably about the size of your little fingertip. Do you think i could just pick this out and it would be ok, although it makes me feel sick just thinking about it or should i take it back to Tesco?

I'm sure it will be fine as it will just be a small pool of blood that has collected and dried out a bit.

Although saying that it would make me feel sick as I'm a bit squemish that way :o.
  • I would take it back. You'll not be happy using it so get your money back or exchange it.

You could always give it a rinse under the sink, offensive bit of blood gone forever!

Can't understand why the British Housewife is so squeamish about meat!

I'm a butcher's daughter though so won't generally buy very much supermarket !!!! meat, not been hung properly, all packaged in sweaty plastic, those 'nappies' underneath to collect the blood, yes the animal is still bleeding because not enough time has gone from it chewing the cud in a field to it landing on your plate!
More damage being done to your meat sat in a sweaty bit of packaging than a teeny bit of blood!
