Do you think RE say to the pizza company don't worry about paying us a fee for assessing your customer service?

    Of course they don't.

RE are just making bigger profits by not passing on the fees paid by their clients. Questioning why should you get a fee for everything you do is naive, RE get a fee for every job you complete and should pass a proportion of that on to you.

Well, if you don't want almost-free pizza, then don't accept the assignments! Simple really. :rotfl:

What about Gap petrol jobs? Do you do them?

why should you get a fee for everything you do? i take plently or re-imb only as its something that i either buy anyway (and so save money) or could not justify spending my own money on (so a free treat). obv you would only take these jobs if its something you want. as tg says its a nice treat for the kids or yourself.

some jobs do take the !!!! but i think the re-imb on those pizza jobs is good if its something you would order anyway

Personally I don't mind doing the pizza jobs (for either company) because I live by myself and the reimbursement always covers what I order (even the GAP one with the side order) so it's a dinner for me, and the time I would have spent washing up pots and pans etc I'll be online with a glass of wine instead writing my report.

Each to their own and everyone has their own personal circumstances to consider. I don't think anybody is wrong for taking a pizza job, or a health food job or anything they like.
  • My point appears lost on you - as more and more reimbursement only jobs appear then it is obvious why.

Have you noticed how the fee for the RE colourful monarch pub jobs no longer exists?

I don't carry out jobs without a fee, I do this to make extra money not to be out of pocket!

    I do:

A while back TNS used to do these jobs:

    They paid a FEE:

They paid Mileage and parking. (Obviously not for the takeaway type...)

    They paid Internet access

You are selling yourselves short and in doing so enabling RE to undercut decent firms who will eventually disappear.

Then you will be paying RE to do jobs

Each to his\her own. Just look at the bigger picture.

Have a look at the pizza menu find any large pizza write the figure down and then write the figure for the reimbursement underneath it.

Perform a simple subtraction - you will find you have spent more than you have been reimbursed - thus you are out of pocket.

My point is not about pizza - is it so difficult to follow a point - my point is mystery shopping companies receive a fee for every assignment they carry out. They will not pass that fee on if they don't have to. The more people that accept jobs without fees the more jobs that there will be without fees or with reduced fees.

    Hi,
I think your point is crystal clear, however as other people have pointed out people will do what they deem fit for themselves & on this forum that is very much evident.
Everybody's circumstances are different & in the past i've done jobs with no fee so that my son could have a treat that I couldn't afford @ the time, I've also done clothes shops with no fee so that I could get my young son clothing that he needed. I didn't feel guilty then & don't now,as I was struggling financially as my husabnd left me with a large mortgage & paid no maintenance for his only child.
Many years later I'm in a better position to pick & choose the MS'ing & if a job came up with no fee & I wanted to do it then quite simply I will.
Mystery Shopping is NEVER going to make the shopper RICH,but the companies will always profit from us.
For every job you don't take there be someone along @ your back accepting these jobs.

main problem is people are happy with getting things for free! a very hard thing to change :(
I have hated seeing the way the fees have gone in the last 4 years, i used to make a really good living, but now i just survive :(
  • I generally don't like the re-imburse only jobs but will do them if it suits me and the family. I had some nice person from gyp call me asking me to do a job which was nearly 30 miles away which I declined even with the offer of more money etc, it was just not worth it. It was quite interesting how she kept offering me more to do it! But for that distance no way.

BTW anyone else doing a MS for the nude company which includes a large purchase which you can't return? I'm just a bit worried about the re-imbursement aspect.

Totally agree. If I chose to take a job without a fee then that is my choice. There have been people on here that say we should "boycott" certain companies who pay low fees, but the reality is that if you don't take the job then there will almost certainly be someone else who will. I have no shame in saying that I'm one of those people!

I don't rely on MSing to make a living though, and I can only imagine how annoying it would be for someone trying to make a full time wage out of it.

The flip side is that I only complete jobs that interest me and with reimbursement only jobs they do kind of discourage people who wouldn't normal shop there from completing the jobs therefore the report is from the shops normal customers.
