  • When I started out with gap I did a dreadful pizza visit very early on for them. It was awful. The mos refused to seat me (even though the restaurant was only 30% full) saying the manager was not seating anyone right then. When I returned 30mins later I was told they were not serving any pizza and we almost out of other mains. The furniture was crap. The carpets were a health and safety hazard. The loos were in a cellar and freshly painted - but with no ventilation! The service was abysmal. It was everything about that particular pizza firm that can go wrong all at once. I wrote this all up and mentioned everything in full - I was very critical. In response I received, amongst some of the queries just for that assignment - "Why were the chairs broken?" "What was wrong with the carpet?" "Why did the restaurant have no pizza?" to name but a few. Obviously, when I pointed out that these were really questions for the restaurant and the franchise owner, they weren't impressed and asked again. I will admit that after that experience I tended to not mention anything too bad that happened during gap jobs because it was quite clear that anything and everything would be queried and that gap evidently did not believe me.

Rather than boycott re why not boycott gap. Complete and utter crooks.

That was quick!! I went out at 9am, did 8 stores, got home about 2.30pm, and then spent from 4.30pm to 8pm uploading the photos to my computer, re-naming them and uploading them to the site. Then another 3/4 hour this afternoon zipping 6 of the stores up and emailing them 'cos the blimmin' upload didn't work!

I managed 7 in 3.5 hours, plus 3 hours (with distractions) to rename the photos (I did them all once, then found out I'd added a title and hadn't renamed the files ) add another hour for the second upload I did last week then another hour today zipping and e-mailing. I'm on a mac so things are a little different than a PC, takes me a little longer :o

I had this happen to me recently for the first time in eight years of working for GAP. The outlet in question did rather badly in my report so obviously decided to challenge the poor results. They reckoned they'd identified me from CCTV and asked me allsorts of questions about my judgement including whether I'd actually thought the person in front of me was even in the queue. It was ridiculous.

Anyone any similar experiences to share? Am wondering how to approach queries of this nature without getting the sack! I happen to like GAP.

    Hi Culchied,
I think this is an ongoing problem re : the burger shops, as I've said on prev posts I used to do work only for that company until I had a pretty horrific experience when the management could'nt control what was happening in their restaurant & this was recorded on cctv, instead of taking my side & agreeing that it had happened the MS company wanted me to id myself what I was wearing / height / build etc so that the burger company could in fact verify I was there. The most obvious way of proving it was the timed receipt & cctv timing.
I felt badly let down by the MS company & asked them where was the 'Mystery in Mystery Shopping if I was identifiable ? They harassed my bu telephone for a few days by ringing my mobile / house phone / works phone.
I finally emailed them 'withdrawing my services' now this was probably about 3 years ago & its obvious that its continuing to this day.
It seems like nothing has changed for this company.

I can see one up north, terrible fee though for the typical RE essay style questionnaire.
It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

  • oh dear, think I spoke too soon. Just tried to log on to GAP and got the message "Login failed, login is only available for registered and active shoppers"

Have I just been sacked and they've not bothered to tell me?

Yep, well one anyway for Gloucester
  • Strange that RE can upload new jobs but not pay us ..... or answer email asking why we've not been paid! I'm not accepting any jobs from them until I know what's happening.
