Gap are rubbish - they also believe the burger joints and chicken shops. I was sacked by them without reason and maintain that it is only a matter of time before people who work for them will have a poor experience.
There stamp jobs used to be hilarious you had to ask about a dead relative and then ask two further questions!0 -
I disagree with identifying myself as a mystery shopper even if the site has identified me (or thinks it has) from CCTV. It's a fundamental rule of mystery shopping that you never reveal your identity and I don't see why that rule should suddenly be broken because a site hasn't performed well in a shop and decides to challenge the report.
I can see your point. But, in accepting the job, you have consented to being identified to the client (you have agreed that your details can be passed to the client).0 -

Yes, but only so that Head Office can confirm that I don't work for the company. Not so that they can identify my image and therefore identify me as a mystery shopper. There is a difference!0 -
I gave an awful chicken report last year, had to wait 11 mins for food, and commented on the dead flies that were lying on the serving counter.
Thought I was going to get sacked for sure, but I wasn't gonna lie. In the end didn't even get a query on it.0 -

I queried why I had been barred from jobs from one particular client. Three of my most recent visits had given very similar (pretty poor) results. Apparently, the client asks for an assessor to be removed from the shopper database for their sites if they consider that the shopper provides results that are not globally representative.
All you guys who are not yet barred: it might be a good idea to shop as many different sites as you can for the same client. This way, you are likely to be providing diversity of results, so theoretically are less likely to get kicked off.0 -
I only suggested that they look at cctv to prove that I would not be so stupid as to sit in the shop and fill in my paperwork. I agree that we agree when we sign up to a job that our details and description can be passed on if managment ask but when you ask for a receipt the staff attitude changes automatically as they then know that you are a ms and they start fussing, I have said that this has happened on many of my different jobs but there is no other way of proof if we do not get a receipt. I told the ms company that I would not be doing this kind of job any more then they sent me an email to confirm.
I do enjoy msing but I do wonder sometimes is it really worth the hassle just for a few pence profit.:)Thank you to all of you who post competitions

I went out at 9am, did 8 stores, got home about 2.30pm, and then spent from 4.30pm to 8pm uploading the photos to my computer, re-naming them and uploading them to the site. Then another 3/4 hour this afternoon zipping 6 of the stores up and emailing them 'cos the blimmin' upload didn't work!
TG, can you help me? I created a zipped folder, dragged folder with photos into it but it is still showing to be the same size as the original folder (17mb). What am I doing wrong?
Can't believe I signed up for this project, what a joke!0 -

I agree. When you get to that point, it really isn't worth the hassle.
I think that part of the problem is the few bad eggs in MS who think that the jobs are money for old rope. Anyone who is sufficiently professional will follow the job brief to the letter, then produce an honest and accurate report (and I do presume that everyone reading this forum fits into the professional category). The bad eggs are only there to take the money and run, and I suspect that their reports skew everything for the rest of us. Mind you, those bad eggs do give the rest of us some very lucrative re-shops when they realise that they have bitten off more than they can chew!0 -

The way I did it - I highlighted the photos, right clicked, then selected "Send to Compressed (zipped) folder. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

The only people they're going to have left before long are the ones who are only in it for a free lunch and who give a glowing report whether or not it is deserved. Is that what mystery shopping is all about? I don't think so!
The sooner another company takes over these jobs from Gap the better!
i have given a bad report everytime i have done a chicken job and not been fired (yet!) their standard of cleanliness is disgusting compared to the burger place  my burger reports are mixed- i have given a few exceptional ones and also some average ones. don't think i have ever had to give a really negative burger one thank god! generally they tend to be good :cool:proshopper wrote: »All you guys who are not yet barred: it might be a good idea to shop as many different sites as you can for the same client. with the burgers i do the same four/five sites nearly every month and also occasionally others if i am out and about so i supose i am doing a variety. i only ever do three chicken places and tbh they are as bad as each other. went to one late fri night with a group of friends (not MS) and i got my food immediately and they had to wait over 10 mins! and they were in front of me! probably recognised me from cctv! :rotfl:Mystery Shopping £1147/£2000 (Jan) :j
Bingo wins since Jan: £1320 :T0
