  • HERE is the pdf app form - scroll down the bottom and have a look at the last box ;)
  • Just to answer a few questions about the vouchers.

Yes the box containing the vouchers does show the date of expiry for the vouchers as 30/06/06. but once you open the box ad check the vouchers themselves they show the date as 30/06/07 so they have plenty of time left. However being a sceptic I contacted the BSM helpline and asked about the date issue and was advised that if I created an account with BSM and banked the vouchers on that account within the date printed on the vouchers the banked time would then have no date of expirary. If that isnt enough for you then dont forget Costco's no question return policy, Nuff said !

Just for info as I have said in the initial post I created an account with the Leicester branch of BSM and then credited the account with the following:
21 X 1 hour driving lesson vouchers (from Costco)
9 X 1 hour driving lesson vouchers (from Halfords)
6 X 1 hour simulator driving lesson vouchers (from Costco)

Total 30 hours of driving lessons

The girl in the BSM office had no problems with this, but did say she had never seen anyone use as many vouchers as this in one time, But then went on to book my daughter in for the 6 hours of simulator time.

    Ref' the trainee instructors,

Just for info to become an ADI (Aproved Driving Instructor) requires a three part exam.
Part 1 is a theory paper
part 2 test your own driving skills
and part 3 tests your instruction skills (this is done by taking out the examiner who acts as a student at different degrees of competence).
A fully qualified ADI is issued a Green badge (I think I have got the colours the right way arround !)
A trainee ADI after passing both part 1 and part 2 test is issued with a Red badge, to enable him to gain experience with students. So it is easy to tell if an ADI is fully qualified.
Also I believe you can ask for a specific instructor when booking lessons so if you get a trainee and are not happy with his or her skills ask for another.

Ref' Costco membership there are two routes

Trade membership (this stands for itself you must produce 2 bits of evidence to gain this)

Individual membership. The best way to get this is if you know a member who is willing to sponsor you as his guest for 1 year after that you can become a member in your own right.

Failing that a number of proffesions can get membership Check with Costco for details but any goverment worker or Police, Fire ETC will get it.
I recently found out that some companies have struck a deal with Costco enabling employees to gain membership, again Costco would let you know if you qualify, But just for info I work for Rank Hovis Mcdougal and they are covered. If you have to travel to check make sure you carry two proofs of ID showing your current address! as they need these to process you application Just for info it costs arround £12 per year to be a guest member and arround £25 to become an individual member (as an individual member you can have a second person on your membership, Wife ETC)

    I hope the above helps.

    Tahnk you D_Shuttleworth

I went to Costco this evening (Reading) and got 15 of these boxes for my son who will be 17 in November. £11.74 is a great deal!

If so how, what do you need to open an account.
You can be an individual member if you work or are retired from certain professions e.g. teaching, police, fire, NHS, civil servant, chartered engineer. There are others but I can't find the full list online. You can also join if you work for certain large companies e.g. BT. The best thing to do is ring up your nearest Costco and find out if you qualify.

To sign up you need to take in your employment ID, proof of address such as driving licence or bank / credit card statement and a utility bill.

I have been a member since 2000 and can highly recommend it.

I've got an individual Costco membership by virtue of working in banking.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

Yes, you can join as an individual member - you need to take proof of employment, and two utilities bills to join - it's really easy.
