Praise for the shop assistants

Well this was a lovely thread! Thank you for the sentiment OP :-) This is my first Christmas in retail and I have enjoyed the Christmassy feeling in our shopping centre, Salvation Army band outside and Santa wandering round on a Saturday! My customers have all been lovely, except for one man who I actually take pity on more than anything as he was clearly having great problems with his Christmas shopping...

Yes a big :T to retail staff and all those dealing with us luckier members of public who get a nice, long break at this time of year. A special hurray to those having to work on Boxing Day, a shopping day I long since abandoned as I really can't see why the shops can't stay shut for two days and give the staff a rest. By the number of shoppers I see on crimbo eve with 2 full trolley's each I can't believe they need to go out the day after Xmas for anything. And surely the sales can wait one more day?

Have things got worse recently? I was in retail 1989-92

I get frustrated with bad customer service myself, but I never swear or shout. I do get cross too but won't pretend it's acceptable.
