It may have been the Swiss Re interest in Prudential's Life Funds, reported in the Sunday Times, that gave insurers a bit of a boost as miners and oils fell badly.

Some very big trades to round off the day, in both directions

Bizarrely, Tuesday morning's stock market press comment seems to have missed this Standard Life surge completely .
