Standard Life's sales figures are disappointing, as is it's outlook that "conditions across all our markets remain difficult". But with such a large cash pile set aside for a rainy day, Standard Life is better positioned than rivals to see out further market volatility. Trading on just under eight times earnings, the shares are worth holding on to, says the Telegraph.

The next earnings announcement from Standard Life is expected the week of March 12, 2009.0 -
Lloyds report they will be able to give dividends unimpeded via a scrip issue. SL returned with a positive market to previous months highs, 260 is next?
They underperformed the life insurance sector, other companies are more greatly discounted0 -
LONDON (ShareCast) - A leading shareholder in HBOS and Lloyds TSB was considering a proposal last night by two Scottish banking grandees to derail the £12bn merger of the two lenders.
Standard Life, which gave the takeover its blessing last month, effectively killing off hopes that HBOS might remain independent, said that it was looking at the proposal by Sir George Mathewson and Sir Peter Burt, reports the Times.

SL moved with the market today and then dived in the last hour.
I dont know why but it was moving in line with the insurance sector. Paulson isnt going to buy any toxic debt from the yankie banks so that might have been it, I dont follow any american insurers so thats just a guess0 -
In a subdued partial reversal to mirror yesterdays ending slump, SL rose 6% on the days opening or 2% on yesterdays close, outperforming the sector which fell and the ftse0

Yea great performance today on the ftse's biggest ever rise, reached the full end of recent range.
210 - 260 in just 2 days is about as good as it gets. They outperformed the market and the sector and 'spiked' after hours alsoDetailed Standard Life Share Price Changes Period Price Change Percent Change 1 week 229.00p +37.50p +16.38% 1 month 192.00p +74.50p +38.80% 3 months 246.25p +20.25p +8.22% 6 months 239.00p +27.50p +11.51% 1 year 243.75p +22.75p +9.33%
A share thats risen on the year sounds too good to be true. The 266p price isnt solid, its more like 250 I think but still way above anything else0 -
