  • Unless you are actually a florist, I don't think Horners can supply you. You need to be VAT registered and have an account with them as far as I know. That's the case for me anyhow...
Petal Power in Newtownards is my friends shop and they sell cello by the metre, and maybe even by the roll.
Reids Florists on the Lisburn Road is where I worked and they sell by the metre also.
Other than that Craft World on Queen Street in Belfast is a good bet.

I'm not a florist or VAT registered and I buy in there all the time

Morning all (or should I say MOANING ALL)!!!! Just back from a wasted cold, icy, frosty journey to Glenavy to Ballance House for their Victorian Fair which had been CANCELLED. Great communication from the organisers I DON'T THINK. Apparently emails were sent out last night to tell everyone it was cancelled, yet myself and 2 other crafters arrived in the cold to wait to set up. They also did not receive any emails, even a post on here would have given us information!!!! I know the weather is bad and I am sure it would have affected the turn out but we have had the poor weather for over a week now and the decision could have been made alot earlier, as other organisers have done so and communicated it well on here. That's my moaning over, to cap it all the Blackpool V United match is cancelled aswell!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was booked to go to this one, but had to cancel and was told that I wouldn't be able to get a refund (fair enough). If they cancelled it, I would assume that they refunded the stall holders. Is it worth me going back to them and asking for a refund (it was £40 after all) or is that a bit cheeky?

The lady in Ballance House is only there one day a week and she was off last week, but she phoned me yesterday to apologise for not being emailed about the cancellation. She is sending me out a refund, not sure about those who cancelled themselves if they will get a refund, but quite right, "if you don't ask you don't get.

Have you been to any fairs as a seller? If so, you should already know about good ones and bad ones!

Advertising and road signs and banners are key, as are a good mix of stalls, ie not too many of one thing (it is also important to make sure no-one says they are selling one thing only to turn up with other things that cause clashes). Don't over book the hall, make sure you can fit in all your tables with access space, do a table plan to ensure no two similar stalls are close by, pay attention to what crafters request on their forms and advise them if you cant help them out with requests, give the stall holders some refreshment, check your insurance requirements, be prepared to take the rough with the smooth and accept the fact that it can be very hard to get punters in through the door, by and large if your fair is to raise money for a church/charity etc stall holders will be gracious if it is a bad fair, but if you are running the event to make a profit for yourself, be prepared to take the flack if it is a bad show!

Hope I haven't put you off too much and good luck with the event!:xmassmile:o
