I know what you are saying as well and I suppose with me being somewhat recent to the forum I cant comment as much as others but I do think ld keep the site as you say and anyone who wants to pm on Facebook they can if they want.

    Someprettybags,

    It wont be taken away:)
I have just set up a facebook page for all crafters that know each other.....we have had a few trolls on here recently....and a comment from another member of mse....dmxdave I think...we dont know who he is! But he felt it necessary to come on to the board and comment on fairs and our discussions.

Because of the trolls.....I think a few of us are WARY of new posters....until we meet in the flesh IYKWIM:o....people introduce themselves and what they do....

You are a new poster......first post today, maybe you have something to do with bags.....can you see our point in setting up a different discussion place? some of our fairs havnt been so good some have been great.....we want to let people know why they were good and why they were bad etc.....but I for one dont want to publically tell other genuine crafters my reasons for this that and the other!!

Rach....some of us have been torn to shreads by people we dont know... I know your not trying to stir!!
If it wernt for this forum we would all be subscribing to a £20 or £30 per year website, I am totally indebted to this forum for the help I received when I was doing craft fairs!!

But sometimes the pms and the trolls can do their damage too:o
    i second that mumoffour

we should all be able to talk about the fairs we have done, good+bad and be able to tell other crafters/stall holders of our experiences but like mumoffour said we cant do that on here or we get torn to shreds for having an opinion, so at least on facebook we can give/receive honest advise on fairs on facebook
  • Glass act I was at Victoria last year, it's great you liked the bag.

Guys I get what your all saying and I was just making a point about facebook. Which I think is a bit like a private club and to be on it you have to then make yourself very public.

Your right, I did join today to make this comment. I have been following this forum for about a year and a half as a lurker. I have read the comments and have experienced it on other online forums myself. I suppose it's just one of those things with being online.

Didn't mean to rub you up the wrong way.

FB can be tailored...(mine is totally private...no one can see me, my photos or any of my links unless they are my friends;) and even at that sometimes i only allow my family to see certain pics)

We want people to join the forum and post on it!!! Its the only way we are going to get to know new crafters!!

My point was only that we have had a few difficulties recently....and sometimes its a bit scary going to fairs, knowing a lot of people from Northern ireland read this and know what one we are going to......Does that sound awful???

We have had threats by pm.....we have had someones dislike of us using this as a discussion board!! I for one havnt posted as often as i used to!!.....sometimes i dont even sign in to view the board...

I love this board!! I love NI craft fairs 2010!!

ill probably get torn to shreds for saying this but it seems to me that its the ones that dont normally post on here and dont add any fairs are the only ones that would be annoyed for us starting up a private facebook page

Oh we are getting controversial here!

I don't mind anyone reading the chat, wether or not they contribute - my objection was to the Craft fairs and events website basically poaching our list and putting it on their own which they charge for - to me that is not fair, but I am sure they read the pages here, and I was hoping a bit of a rap across the knuckles would be enough to make them stop!!!!

It took me a while to start posting on the site, I even got Rach to post a couple of dates for me first, but if you are reading this, it would be really nice of you to share any dates you may have with us.

I have afew new dates to add myself, I will try and update the list later with the fairs above, plus donacloney, castlereagh council and victoria square!
DJWW - cos we won't let it!
  • Oh, now im intrigued whats happening in Castlereagh Council??? I know you said you'd post it but I can wait!!

    Clare
  • Oh my, I haven't been on in a few weeks, and everything is upside down :(

I for one will still be posting here and updating with any info I know (which is usually fairs I would be running)

I don't think it should be deleted, and I have joined the fb page so I will be one both.

I have met some lovely people here, who I consider to be my friends and it saddens me the way things have turned out.

I agree with MOF about nasty people being on board, but I wouldn't let them break up the forum, tmho :)

Hear Hear Harleygirl!! I agree - any bad feeling has been generated by one or two folk not interested in our thread but just out to cause mischief (trolls!) and personally I think it would be an extreme measure to get rid of this wonderful resource just because of a few isolated incidents. I too have registered with the fb site and will be makin sure the mse list is up to date too (I'm sure anyone who may have subscribed for the pay -to-view list can do the same by listing here anything on their site which isn't in our list - good for goose good for gander!!) I don't condone attacks on newbies, lurkers, folk who don't or can't post or anyone else who may come on here and use it in the way it is indended - as a free resource for everyone and anyone interested in finding out about craft fairs in Northern Ireland. In the words of the scousers lets all "calm down, calm down"!;)
