Glassact do you know if this is indoors or out? Not sure I want to stand outside in november!!! (AND it would ruin my stock ;))

    A few thoughts recently:
    1. I reckon we should now ignore promises of "last year we had 70,000 footfall" as it seems to have little bearing on what is happening this year. 2. So far 100% of the fairs I have attended in 2010 have been disappointing in terms of sales - and I dont mean that they are badly organised or badly advertised, I just think the current financial climate is meaning people are coming to church fairs to make sure their faces are seen, and to socialise, and are coming to other fairs for a free look around something a bit different. I know what I sell would be at least twice the price if it was in a shop, but still people are not buying.
    3. I agree with comments re charging in to an event. HAving said that, obviously the large ones are going to charge in as they are money making events. But I do think school and church fairs that charge in need to offer something for the charge, like a cup of tea and traybake included. You cant charge £2 in, then £1.50 for a bun and cup of tea - thats £3.50 they would choose to spend instead on something at a stall. Maybe we need to add to our list of questions for organisers:

"If the fair is poorly attended, will you be in a position to refund part of our table booking fee, as we are unable to attend unless we can be sure our fee at least is going to be covered?"

    :o
Im knitty, Im nutty, but I dont know anyone called Nora. :p

There is a marquee and indoor building but some stalls are out around courtyard area. There are quite a few food stalls at this event and they are usually the outside ones.

I'm still putting the details together so anything you need to know just ask. I work for Praxis in a respite unit in Conlig for children with disabilities and we're hoping to raise some much needed funds for equipment. I'd welcome any advice / suggestions from all of you. I'm hoping to get a good mix of crafters at it. Let me know what else you all need to know about it. I haven't decided on the price of the stalls yet so any ideas oin that are most welcome. no probs. So, did you say (a long way back!!) that you are going to mountstewart? Im really nervous about it. Apart from anything else, I have 2 wholesale orders Im waiting on that might be delayed with the flights being cancelled etc....argh! Also, there arent enough hours in the day for making stuff - I have some in with me today to make during my lunch break! might have to find a quiet corner in the pub next door to get sewing, LOL!!

i was thinking of doing ballymena show but i think that the fee of £65 plus vat is quite a lot and you have to bring your own table. what does anyone else think about this one? the Saintfield show is on 19th June and is only £25 for a table.I can find out if there is any room left at this one if anyone is interested?
glassact i heard the ballymena show didnt do too well last year. there is a fair in ballyclare on the same date, im doing it instead
