Amazon - Unable to meet delivery commitments

I'm most annoyed, despite

1) Placing an order on the 12th December
2) Delivery estimated at date of order being the 18th December
3) All items being in stock
4) All other conditions being met

-and-

5) Still advertising that they can deliver in time for Christmas!

we have just found out that they will not be delivering our order in time for Christmas.

Don't trust Amazon - They have let me down

  • I've ordered a lot from Amazon this year and the only item I had a delay on was the only one that I paid extra for 1st class post. Now that delivery is free I always place a separate order for every item so that there are no hold ups for part orders. I don't think I have anything left to come from them that hasn't been dispatched, so I guess I'm really pleased. Sorry you've had problems and hope you can get your item from somewhere else in time.

Placed 4 different orders for DVD's from Amazon on 14th using free supersaver delivery and 2 have arrived so far with other two being due by Saturday.

    Excellent service.

Spooky - I had the same experience. I have just emailed them to ask for a refund of my postage charge as the orders with free delivery have been delivered more quickly!
    Gone ... or have I?

I ordered a box set on the 10th, estimated delivery date was the 16th and it hasn't arrived. I contacted them this afternoon explaining it was a Christmas present and they told me to wait until the 22nd. No good if it's not here by then as I won't get a replacement in time.

All my free delivery items have arrived. The only one that I paid first class post for is due to arrive after christmas (despite being in stock) so I have cancelled and ordered from ebay from a seller who has already put it in the post!

I was thinking the same thing but being superstitious and waiting till all orders have arrived first ;)
  • We have had to cancel Amazon orders that didn't arrive in the time stated, Christmas and other times of the year too.

Yes, it's happened to me in the past. Hopefully my toaster will come on time this year.

I've ordered a lot of stuff from Amazon but left it a bit late. I don't want Christmas to come and find Amazon can't deliver, so I went out and bought the exact same items from Waterstones as an insurance policy, every single thing was double the price.

I'm going to return them for a refund depdening on how Amazon perform.
  • I've ordered from amazon a lot over the past few months and have been really pleased with their Free Super Saver Delivery option. I've never had to wait more than 3 days. But I think in the run up to Christmas they're obviously really busy and First Class/Express Delivery/Evening Delivery is given a far higher priority than Free Super Saver Delivery, and it looks as though the orders are backing up - but surely they should honour all orders they claimed would arrive by the 24th?!

I placed an order on the 15th and at the time it said estimated dispatch 16th-18th. But now my account says still yet to be dispatched and estimated delivery is 23rd-24th. They're cutting it fine!
