    Hi
Plug in your drive, Go to My Computer, right click the drive and choose format.

    Hope this helps

    Hi
I see from your another thread that you got it off ebay, I suppose you could ask the seller the question, or do a google on make and model and see if there's any forums for it.
Are you on xp, which make/model is your player? I suspect it might be an issue with Fat or NTFS format, or it could be a faulty player.
  • hi wonderlife it was working at first as i was able to put one album on then when i plugged it back in it said it could not find the player in the f drive and then after that it told me it was not formatted. and then when i tried to format i got the windows message saying that is was unable to complete the format.

the only problem with contacting the seller is that it was purchased from hong kong. and i am going on holiday in a few days and really wanted to take the item with me. i am just so hopeless with technology that i painicked and kept rephrasing my query in case i was asking the worng questions. the player is a generic make

Before you try a format just see if.

    You turned it on.

    Remove any physical lock.
  • it is turned on and working ok it just wont let me transfr music to the player as it says it is not formatted

    Hi
Can you post a link to the item, so we can take a look at it.

PS Have you tried rebooting your pc, and plugging it in again

When formatting try both NTFS and FAT, also right click the drive, properties, and if it says read only remove that tick.
