Parking over lines

We have just received a £80.00 parking ticket for obstructive parking. My wife parked her car but went over the white lines as there was a triangular shaped pavement which jutted out into the bay preventing her from parking her car fully in the bay. Her car has spoilers which would have been damaged has she parked within the bay.
The car park was not full and there were plenty of spaces, although her actions did effectively use 2 spaces.
This was in a private car park (shopping trading estate)
An £80.00 fine seems excessive and opportunistic. When we checked the small print, the regulations state that if parking conditions are not met a fine can be issued.
The whole thing seems very excessive.
Should we pay or do we have a case?

Ignore it, it's not a real parking ticket, it's an unenforceable invoice. Do not contact them in any way, you will get letters from them but they will give up. Even if you think it looks like an official letter - ignore, ignore, ignore.0

Have you responded to them in any way shape or form yet? If not then don't. Whilst the quality of the paper you will soon receive will be very poor it can still however be utilised for composting, posting to another private parking company, or in extreme cases of necessity toilet paper, however with the latter care needs to be taken to avoid paper cuts in sensitive areas, other than that I don't think there is a lot of use it can be put to and should be deemed waste matter and disposed of accordingly.
Don't contact them, don't pay, don't worry, visit the numerous threads on these parasitic bellends for confirmation of the above. Please take a read of some of the private parking posts on here and you will see that others have ignored the private parking companies and eventually they give up. They call it a fin but it is just an invoice, ppc's cannot issue fines or penalties. That privilege is reserved for councils and police. Sit back, have a drink and be happy that the money will be in your account and not theirs. If you still feel like paying anything send something to your favourite charity instead.
edit. Wish I could type quicker, everyone beats me to it.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
On a more sober note, on rare occasions these will come supplied with a return paid envelope, THIS IS NOT WASTE and should be stuffed with newspaper small adds and promptly returned with a note containing lots of smilies and kisses. A word of warning if sending fecal matter through royal mail it should be contained in an airtight and waterproof container to avoid any fear of prosecution. Incidentally faeces does not actually have skin but it is the thought that counts. And remember, revenge is a dish best served cold so no insulation to the packaging, another point of interest is there is no dna database for dogs.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0

because i personally think that all people who do not park in there bays properly e.g. over the lines,at an angle, taking up 2 bays should be fined £200 a time because the amount of people who do it our way is ridiculous. Having to move because of these people or having your car door dented or not being able to get out of your car once you park ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that`s all.We have just received a £80.00 parking ticket for obstructive parking. Hmmm...you're entitled to your point of view of course.
I could say that I think people who post unhelpful replies get my goat and that I would like to 'fine' them £200 for the waste of time I have just spent reading it...but I won't. But I would have about as much right to fine you this way as the PPC does in trying to claim they have 'fined' the OP!
Surely you are not a mug who would honestly say anyone should pay one of these private car park scammers? If so I feel sorry for your lack of knowledge about the subject and suggest you read up in case the chancers ever pick on your car for some spurious reason.
To the OP, same as others have advised already. See my signature, ignore all the correspondence which will arrive for the registered keeper, don't fall for it, don't appeal, don't tell them who the driver was, don't contact the parking company at all.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Well in that case you would be wrong, you may think it desirable that they pay but that does not mean they have to pay, the correct answer to the question is NO you do not HAVE to pay.
You have been awarded one mark for spelling, 0 marks for punctuation, and 0 marks for accuracy, there is no rating for intolerance but rest assured if there was you would have scored highly, there will be more questions available tomorrow please come back and try again, unfortunately on this occasion due to your failure to correctly and coherently answer the question you have not won a prize.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

Apart from being so difficult to read (caps) She does have a point, even if I drive a £500. Daihatsu. I'm convinced that car park space dimensions have not kept pace with the width of modern cars and could even be narrower than of yore. All the better to squeeze the extra few cars in, even though the car park is never full on 364 days of the year.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
