I personally buy my white goods online. I don't think we are allowed to name specific companies here?

Anyway the one I use drop-ships them, which is that they send them directly from the manufacturer. It takes a few weeks but then I save several hundred pounds, meaning I can have a brand such as Miele (can I mention that) rather than a cheaper brand.

Good way to do it if you are not in a rush and are not fussy about a particular model

We are about to buy a couple of appliances, we are probably going to buy online as well as it seems cheaper. I think we are allowed to mention companies / brands as long as we're not advertising for ourselves, however I found depending what you want a different company works out better so check price comparison sites.
We have decided on a Bosch dishwasher for around £300, Bosch seem to be a reliable brand (not as reliable but not as expensive as Miele). After a lot of indecision we decided to get a full sized rather than a slimline one although there are 2 of us as well, far easier when you have people round, plus will last if / when we have kids as well.

Are you going for a full sized one or a slimline one?

The Bosch dishwashers are pretty good and worth a look, Dixons online usually price match.

If there only two adults in the house your not going to produceing enough plates to fill a dishwasher thus your gonna end allowing food to dry onto plates and it wont clean as well. Spend the money on something your more likly to use and just clean you dishes when you use em.

I live alone and do not find this is a problem at all! Ok I have a slimline machine ( 15 year old Bosch still going strong ) and might not run it every day...but then again I NEVER wash anything by hand and it is surprisingly easy to get a full load. Dishwashers have a quick rinse cycle to remove any debris likely to get dried on..but I do not use it very often and my dishes always come out clean.
    LOVE BOSCH!!

There are only two of us using our dishwasher. It is a Hotpoint Aquarius and we find that it is extremely good. I am always surprised just how well it copes. It is normally only used three times a week, so any residue is well dried by the time of the wash. If I remember, I rinse the worst of the food from the plates, but it seems to wash just as well if the plates are not pre-rinsed. The main reason that I tend to rinse the worst from the plates is not to make the wash easier for the machine, but to ensure that there is no chance of the drain pipe getting blocked.
The only time we have ever had a problem was when I forgot to top up the salt container and the glasses came put spotted with white marks. A quick refill of salt and the problem was easily solved.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

We have had two Indesits and one Miele and the Indesits have always been as satisfactory and probably better than the Bosch. It's important to use the dishwasher powders and rinse aid regularly. The water is soft in this district so we don't need the salt recommended for some areas.

One good tip to prolong the life of the rubbers around the door area is to leave the door just slightly ajar at the end of the cycle.

There are only three of us & we fill it twice a day, mind you I put EVERYTHING in there.

OP don't be so sure you won't use it daily;)

If you haven't bought it already, consider whether you need a full size dishwasher if there are only two of you as these will still take enough settings if your have visitors. We have a slimline Indesit which is fine and more economical to run than a full size machine. If you have a full size machine you will need an enormous amount of cutlery, plates, cups, etc. to fill up the machine before it's economical to run. Also, if you store dirty plates with particularly smelly residues like fish, etc. the machine can build up smells in the hot weather before it's full enough to run. We run ours every other day and this arrangement works fine for us.

    Hi

It is a common misconception that slimline dishwashers are more efficient than full size ones - actually you will generally find its the other way round. This is because slimline dishwashers are not updated as often as full size machines so consequently are old technology. Its quite simple whether there is 1 person or 10 in the household, get a full size dishwasher, only ever have a smaller machine when space is restricting.
