Hi all,

Have a bit of a nightmare with British Gas at the minute and have been trying to sort this issue out with them for at least 2 months now.

At the minute we have the following below in our flat

Electric Key Meter - British Gas (Pay As You Go)
Gas Card Meter - British Gas (Pay As You Go)

We moved into our flat end of Sept 2009 and this is when we got our new key and card as we are new first time customers.

The issue we have is when we moved in we asked British Gas to put us on the Pay As You Go Click Package which is found here as its cheapest rate you can get on Pay As You Go http://www.britishgas.co.uk/products-and-services/energy/our-products/pay-as-you-go.html

We did apply online for the Click package but British Gas said they did not get the online application as i phoned them after waiting 4 weeks like it told us before the rates would be set on each meter. A member from there team has been helping us for last 2 weeks trying to sort this out.

I have now been informed by British Gas that the rates have been sent to the PayPoint system so after the next few Top Up's the new rates should be set on the Gas and Electric Meters and that it will be back dated to end of sept so i guest some credit will get put back onto them.

I am finding it hard to work out what the rates should be for my meters once they have been set to the Click Rates as not sure if British Gas are telling me the correct rates as i have Gas and Electric with them.

Does anyone know what the rates should be for the midlands as i cant work it out even after looking on the PDF Files on the link above as on the PDF files there is to much info to work it out.

These are the rates set at the minute on each meter. I got most of these from the meter as well as being told by British Gas. These are not the click rates but i made note of these to see what they change to.

Electric Meter as of 15/12/09 (Meter Reading 15295.42kWh)
First 1.4 kWh Per Day at 23.90p and then Screen I Rate 10.36 Pence Per kWh there after.

Gas Meter as of 15/12/09 (Meter Reading - 01162.904m3)
    Screen 09 Tarrif Cost Tier 1 (8.341)
    Screen 10 Tarrid Cost Tier 2 (3.409)

This is what the British Gas guy emailed me with (See Below) who is sorting out my Click Package problem. Is it me or the figures below do not match the pricing listed on the Click Package link in my first post above

At the moment on electric the first 1.4 Kwh of electric per day is charged at 23.90p and then drops down to 10.36p
On Click energy you are charged a daily charge of 15.519p and all elec charged at 10.461p per kwh

    Gas - T1 7.991

    Gas - T2 3.266

I believe this works out cheaper but once I get the calculations done for the last three months we’ll know
  • I would change your gas to ebico flat rate of 3.65p no standing charge and use a comparrison site for elec but make sure it is flat rate because some people seem to have problems with dual rate tariffs on prepayment meters
  • Hi What is ebico?

How do they compare with British Gas

  • Cheers,

Is there rates as cheap as they say they are.

How easy is it to change over Gas and Electric as i am new to all this you see. How much will i save?

    Chris
  • Would British gas Remvoe there meters from the flat and install there own if i changed over
  • Just phoned up to get prices for my area.

    Electric - 12.63p kWh
    Gas - 3.67p

He said there is no other charges or anything else added on each day or week.

    Chris
  • yes they are cheapest for gas but some other supplier may be cheaper for electric
  • How can i find that out

Dont have a clue as its our first flat you see.

    Chris

yes they are cheapest for gas but some other supplier may be cheaper for electric
  • Just used a few comapre sites and all are saying that for Gas and Electricity that EBICo is the cheapest giving me a saving of around £100 a year
