Thanks for the replies, hubby has now said he'll go get the supermatt for me on Monday. Really appreciate the time you've taken to reply and stop us making a costly mistake.
Gliddens Contract Matt is marginally cheaper than Dulux Trade Supermatt ...though you can get Dulux Trade Supermatt in some B&Q stores (least you can in mine). Glidden's tends to found in places like Brewer's. Though the gliddens comes in a minimum 10L plastic tub..as opposed to a 5L metal tin of Supermatt) - i bought Supermatt as i didn't need 10L of paint. Water it down as per the instruction on the tin - first coat more water than 2nd, then your choice of finish paint over the top - rich matt at that stage should be fine.
I wouldn't chance it with the Dulux white matt ..it is likely to be what Dulux define as "rich matt" and therefore have a vinyl content.
