Wonder if anyone can help me. Got daughter iphone 3gs with orange as been with them several years, the insurance is £12.99 pmonth compared to £6 for any other mobile, orange advised this is the market price across the board as iphone set it at this amount, now obviously my daughter has had 3 replacements phones on the phone she already has due to them just breaking (through no fault of her own) however really do want to insure this phone. Can anyone recommend insurance elsewhere for cheaper £ orange told me they send replacement phone within 24hrs which i can confirm they are pretty good but i think £12.99 is excessive to say the least so any feedback would be greatly appreciated as i have 14days to then cancel the insurance,.

The insurance is higher not because of apple setting the price, the insurer sets the price to whatever they deem reasonable. The high price is that the IPhone 3GS is a £600-1000+ handset making the it one of the most expensive on the market, its a high risk and expensive product.
Have you tried to see if Barclays mobile insurance with a current account would cover the IPhone as many mobile insurances dont cover the IPhone 3GS as you need.

http://www.cusc.co.uk/ & http://www.talkcover.co.uk/ both rate well for over £200 handsets.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

Talkcover do not offer loss against iPhones which renders their policy pretty useless0

Correction: Talkcover do insure against iphone loss. The trouble is they are one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with when it came to making a claim. They breached their 48hr turnaround by approximately 20 days and required constant calling and emailing to keep things moving along. For example, simply calling my provider to verify the details on my claim had not been done 4 days after my claim. The fact that I called them made this happen. There is much more to this story but in short: avoid these guys. They will take your money and leave you phoneless given any opportunity. :mad:0 -

When i first looked Expanses store was selling the 16GB at ~£1020, however ive just looked again and found it at £899. But you are correct you can get it much cheaper than that now.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

Well they need to update their website then
As it clearly shows no loss cover for Apple phones

http://www.talkcover.co.uk/apple/iphone3g/insurance.aspAll TalkCover iPhone Insurance policies include cover for:
Theft, both attended and unattended from secure vehicle or premises.
Accidental damage.
Fraudulent calls.
Water damage.
Does not mention loss, although i guess it could come under theft as you can't be sure, but from vehicles and premises.
Although that is a bit vague, does premises cover everything i.e. a street?Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
