Avoid Travelfone.com

:naughty: I recently bought a travelfone SIM for 29 GB pounds to give me a UK presence whilst I look for work, even though I currently live in Paris. My experience of using travelfone to make and receive calls to UK and French fixed and mobile phones was really poor.

1) The quality of the line (for the caller) on several occasions was so bad they couldn't hear me and had to call me back
2) The SMS messages that I sent either did not arrive, or when they did took over 18 hours to reach the recipient.
3) The travelfone voicemail service does not let me delete messages, so I can only ever hear the most recent message left from recruiters and am probably missing interview opportunities.
4) Customer services is an alien concept to them - when I emailed (twice) to raise these issues, they didn't even have the decency to acknowledge, let alone respond.

I have since thrown the travelfone sim card away and will purchase a SIM from a regular UK operator instead. So whilst my calls will probably be more expensive, at least I can count on high quality, reliable coverage. And whoever I choose, the customer service couldn't be any worse!!!

That could be due to the network provider you are using in Paris, try using another one by manually searching for another network.

    2) The SMS messages that I sent either did not arrive, or when they did took over 18 hours to reach the recipient.
When I raised this delay with customer services at Orange/Vodafone they turned round and said anything upto 3 days is acceptable due to the message life. SMS is usually instant but due to congestion maybe delayed?

    3) The travelfone voicemail service does not let me delete messages, so I can only ever hear the most recent message left from recruiters and am probably missing interview opportunities.
Thats bad :( If thats the case, get a Vodafone UK sim with vodafone passport and sign up for vodafone mail where you get enhanced voicemail and can listen to them on the web for free!

    4) Customer services is an alien concept to them - when I emailed (twice) to raise these issues, they didn't even have the decency to acknowledge, let alone respond.
    Thats not good :(

Hey I answered your points above :)
Maybe because they aim to be cheap for people abroad etc they dont always use the best possible connections? It doesnt show who they piggyback off in the UK, and their rates even for UK to UK seem pricy.
