    Thanks Angie

I was shocked at ybs to be honest and as Nationwide were owed £2300 ish in my bankruptcy cant see them being keen to do acoounts for me :(

I understand how you feel. I suppose its good that YBS are not closing accounts down totally for BR's so at least you can use it fully again after discharge.

As for Nationwide, they weren't a creditor in our BR and I was expecting them to close the account, so it was a pleasant suprise when they just downgraded it and left it open!

You could try a Co Op Isa for saving?

    Cheers for the reply.

Coop opened and ISA when the opened the Cashminder but they insisted it must be closed when the BR was notified to them...

    Bit stumped really!

You don`t need to tell the OR but I would be very surprised if Barclays allowed you to open an account with them. Also as it is very early in your BR, I would expect you to still have internet access, but whether you get to keep it only time will tell.

Agree with dojo, you could well find that you open the account and then Barclays sort themselves out realise you are BR and close it again.

You can open an internet saver account through Yorkshire Building Society, lots of us on here have one with them.

I went BR 2 and a bit months ago, and have just opened a Nat West First Reserve Account - int rate isn't great, but it's a savings account, with online banking and a VISA debit card for the account - I have a co-op for everyday. Delighted to say the least.

I opened a Loyalty ISA with the Leeds and Holbeck. I made them fully aware that I am an undischarged bankrupt. All they needed to see was evidence that the OR didn't have any issues and the account was opened.

I chose L&H because I prefer BS to Banks and the account I plumped for had reasonable interest with no penalties for withdrawals and a passbook to make it less of a temptation to draw on it. Same reason as others to put to one side money for car maintenance etc

:( would rather have it with the same bank if poss. what if i wait a few months (to make sure barclays know i'm BR) and if havent stopped my internet access etc, then i can click yes for the e-savings account?

I have emailed Barclays to try and clarify internet access and being BR, as yet they have not replied, from what I have learned from this forum you will be very lucky if they let you open a savings account whilst still BR. I know the coop will not let you open one until your BR has dropped off your credit and file, and I have found them to be the most friendly BR bank around. I opened a YBS internet savings account within 2 weeks of being BR, and I just transfer any money in to it via the internet.
