Say thank you ;) it's amazing that people actually don't do that!

I haven't given when collecting, nor would I require a gift when giving, although I guess that depends on what you are collecting.

    Congratulations!

I have been a member of my local group for a few days and recycled two items, I am still worried about the sort of people that would turn up as most of the items I want to recycle are normally kept inside, do I leave the items outside before freecyclers turn up or let them in to view the items...

I have joined freecycle and have collected one thing. I have a number of items I would like to put on freecycle, however and a bit nervous too. I live with just my teen daughter and am a bit anxious about having complete strangers in the house viewing things. Our garage is clearly visible from the road, which is ususally fairly busy. Is it ok to show people things in the garage, or am I being to cautious?

I put some nappies (I have loads of them!) on about 15mins ago - had 10 enquiries already!

Crikey - some of these guys work fast!

I will be looking for stuff for my BIL's new flat on Friday - I think I will put in a wanted ad rather than replies - I wont get in fast enough!

I have found freecycling a lovely way of getting rid of stuff that I wouldnt be able to sell on ebay

I responded to a lady who was moving into a council flat and had nothing, I gave her an old bookcase that was almost on its way out but fixable and a tv unit which was perfectly good.

She was so appreciative, and she sent a bottle of wine for me, which I tried to refuse on principle, but then sent her an email saying we were toasting her in her new home. I dont think gifts are appropriate really, the gift Im giving is to the planet, keeping something out of landfill for a while and I dont give away anything wanting anything in return.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

we've freecycled loads, and had lots of bits too, most recently 12 huge slabs to redo our back garden.

when offering an item I look for nearest to me, best reason, most polite, and there are one or two characters on there who i strongly suspect are selling stuff on so they dont get my stuff!

When replying, i make sure to not assume it's mine already, state clearly when I can collect, am very polite and explain a bit about why I want the item. Works quite a lot of the time :)

Just shifted my first freecycle item (piece of furniture). Went to the person who asked about sizes, then went to measure to see if it would fit.

Was wary of the several people who said they'd have it, without sizes, or knowing where I was. Felt like it would then be sold on. This isn't a problem to me, as if an item is recycled, that saves landfill, but I would prefer it to be used by someone who wanted and needed it.

I collected my FIRST Freecycle thing today :j

The people were lovely and the item is SO much better than I ever thought it would be :j

I'm just about to email the lady to say thank you and I'm going to attach a picture of the item being used (it's a children's plaything). :):):)

    Hooray for Freecycle! :T
