in Credit cards
Hi Guys, hope someone can advise.
Booked flight with Flyglobespan with my RBS credit card, total cost was £329 for 2 return. Due to fly out 4 weeks on Sunday. I know I can claim this back from my credit card, but can anyone tell me what the process looks like?
Thanks

Have a read of Martin's article here...

Where a chargeback exists the bank will pursue this, No point shouting Section 75 at them.Section 75 is a loss for the bank and the bank can pursue the merchants bank for a chargeback as and where possible.
Simply put you have paid for a service and not recieved the service so its simply a chargeback reason code 4859 RS1 or its a chargeback on Visa reason code 30.
Can be looked at Reason code 4859 RS3- Non receipt of flight.
CAA should have something posted on their site soon in regards to the process.
You need to write to your bank if its flights only
A Covering letter
Copies of your documentation from the merchant - Flight tickets if you have them or Eticket.
Also comments to state you have tried to contact the merchant to resolve. This of course will be impossible due to them being bust but a statement to say you have tried to contact them but phones not answered/cut off etc will do it.

Having read up on the links above, can someone please advise further. It says that each product needs to be over £100, so in the below example does that mean I'll probably only be refunded for the flights, but not the all the taxes, charges etc?
ADULT PRICE 112.98 x 2 225.96
TAXES/FEES/CHARGES 31.00 x2 62.00
CHECKED IN BAGGAGE OUTBOUND 8.00 x2 16.00
CHECKED IN BAGGAGE INBOUND 8.00 x2 16.00
CARD FEE 9.57 x1 9.570 -

I doubt that would be an issue in this case, the above is simply the breakdown in the price of a flight and you can't buy the items separately.0 -
hmm, i was quite confident that we would get the money back - bought 2 flights to dubrovnik and back - total of £366 on my boyfriends card. BUT if this is 2 outward flights and 2 return flights each costing around 80 then I read on this site under martins advice that because no single item is over £100 then they cant be claimed? Unfortunately due to the way flyglobespan website worked, it looked like this might be the case, it was a case of buying a flight there (£60ish)and a flight back (£70ish) and multiplied by 2
feel a bit ill now...
but looking at confirmation email..

I think in terms of flights we are fine, because they are quoted as "Adult price" and are over £100. Its all the extras, for example will they refund the tax, the baggages fees since they are listed as seperate items and under £100?
I'd read it differently, you can't purchase the baggage fees separately from the flight therefore I doubt it would be classed as a separate item.
Its different than say purchasing a Kitchen, when in truth what you are purchasing is a collection of cupboards each of which can be purchased separately.
On alternative if you had to make a claim in relation to a new car, would you expect the CC company to knock of £250 for the metallic paint that was an optional extra?0 -
I got £120 back when SpeedFerries went bust. I had 6 crossings at £20 each. However they took the whole thing as £120 purchase.0

I appreciate what you are saying. I'm just Mr Worst Case Scenario, I'm just trying to cover the bases on what they might try to wriggle out of.
Does anyone have an idea of how long a typical claim takes from start to finish?0
