LTSB debit card driving me mental!

It is driving me nuts!
Have had various problems with my Lloyds debit/cash card, the latest one being that nowhere seems to want to accept my PIN
Yes, before anyone suggests, I am POSITIVE I am entering it correctly as they only sent it to me early last week!
Since then I have withdrawn cash with it at one LTSB cash point last Friday, but I tried to withdraw cash in a LTSB branch yesterday over the counter but the PIN reader was saying "incorrect PIN". This was my last attempt so it said the card had been blocked, but when the clerk swiped it, it said it WASN'T blocked
She of course was also adamant that I MUST have entered the wrong PIN as the computer couldn't possibly be wrong  Now, I have the confirmation of this PIN sitting right in front of me and it is EXACTLY what I entered BOTH when it was accepted at the cash machine last Friday AND yesterday/today when I tried to get cash out and it was rejected.
So, I am now only allowed one more attempt before my card gets swiped by the next machine I try
I should also mention that I have recently established that I can only get money out with this card at a LTSB cashpoint (how dumb is that) so now I am stuck without any money til Friday when I will be near one.
Anyone had anything like this happen? I will go into the bank again on Friday and take this PIN slip with me and they can type it in themselves if they like.
P.S. It says VISA debit on it. Although I can't use it in store either, just online. But that's yet another gripe

If you enter your PIN number incorrectly three times at point of sale (i.e. Chip and PIN terminal) then what is commonly referred to as the "shopping PIN" will block. To unblock this you need to go to an ATM machine (select PIN/ Other Services > Unblock Shopping PIN).
The ATM machine should still accept your PIN number. If you enter your PIN incorrectly three times at an ATM, the PIN will block, which Lloyds TSB can unblock.
The confusion comes from the two different ways you can block your PIN. The PIN number is the same, but the process to unblock differs when blocked at POS and ATM.Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.0 -
Thanks, that makes sense, BUT i haven't entered the PIN incorrectly EVER. Unless putting it in a cashpoint that I can't use counts (my card can only be used in LTSB cashpoints and I didn't realise). Each time the PIN has been requestd I have entered it correctly - I have it here now in front of me on the piece of paper issued by them lol.0

You need to unlock your PIN. There will have been a leaflet with the pin / card explaining this.
Go to a LTSB cash point. Select other services, pin services and unlock your pin.
Basically your pin is not unlocked to be used in point of sale machines. That includes over the counter.
I work for ltsb, and to be honest the cashier who you had a problem with should have told you this. It's a security measure.
That should make it work everywhereMoney, money, money, must be funny....in a rich mans world.

My mums card did this. She would enter it 'incorrectly' in a chip and pin machine (usually in Tesco's) and it would 'lock'. She walked out to the atm, typed in the pin, lo and behold she could withdraw cash
She moved to HBOS in the end!0 -
The reality is, whether people choose to accept this or not, generally speaking, human error is the greater cause of technological fault. Cards and PINs are fairly rudimentary bank services, therefore it is unlikely that Lloyds TSB have issued a PIN number which is not linked to the card.Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I had a similar thing happen with my Lloyds american express credit card, could buy things online but couldn't use it in a cash machine, in the bank branch or any shops.
Turns out it was something wrong with the chip on the card, they issused me a replacement.0 -

Indeedy. Which is why I suggested bringing the slip of paper LTSB provided with the PIN on so THEY can try it and see for themselves there is a problem:D Of course I know this is not the best course of action but coming up to Christmas I am afraid of losing my debit card and running out of options.

If you enter your PIN incorrectly three times at POS or an ATM the PIN locks. On neither instance should your card be retained. I would suggest trying the card at a Lloyds TSB Cashpoint, and, if the PIN is accepted, follow the steps previously mentioned to unblock the PIN.
If the PIN is still not accepted at POS or an ATM (even after unblocking via aforementioned steps), all you can do is have Lloyds TSB either:-- Mark your card as damaged*, and order a new one (with new PIN); or
- Order you a new PIN.
Taking the card into branch with the PIN slip and getting a staff member to enter the PIN (which they will probably refuse to do anyways) is going to do little in terms of resolving the issue.
*marking the card as damaged should keep your existing card valid until your receive the replacement.Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I had trouble with my PIN and new Natwest Visa card.
The crux of the problem was Asda, when I'd visited the store and used my card, the cashier had to void the transaction for some reason but this blocked my card and I had to go to a Natwest machine to unlock it later that day after it was declined because of an incorrect PIN.0 -
Well, folks, my PIN "reminder" finally arrived today and, guess what? Not so much as a reminder, as a BRAND NEW PIN! No wonder the card hasn't been working
as they obviously decided to issue me with a new PIN without informing me. Shall try and see if this PIN works tomorrow.
