Then don't wait for a response if you need a new car anytime soon.

Many really professional Escrow services aimed at car buyers have popped up recently, and nearly all (but not all) are fakes. Looking at their top-notch websites, with UK phone numbers and addresses, you would not know they are not genuine. They even sport fake HMRC and FSA registration numbers to look authentic. And they only exist to steal your money.

The good news is that from 1 November 2009, under the new Payment Services Regulations 2009, all UK escrow services need to be registered with the FSA.
