Genuine sale? Help please

Hi there just looking for a bit of help really lol...

Basically I am in the process of looking to buy a new car. Found one on autotrader last night a 56 plate peugeot 307 for only 2200... a bit underpriced tbh :S

Anyway I contacted the seller and he emailed me back there saying how the car is in Italy for work purposes but he is looking for a quick sale (hence the low price) so is bringing it back to the UK to sell. He said it is all UK registered and it does have mot and tax etc.

Just wondering if this is all legit and maybe I am being a bit over cautious... or does it seem a bit dodgy?

I have only ever bought an old banger from local before so don't really know what I am looking out for and was looking for some extra opinions and advice :)

Merry xmas!

You must think it dodgy to ask the question. It seems dodgy to me, cars are underpriced for a reason and its never a good reason. Forget it, and find one local

Well like I say I am posting to get some opinions as I don't have a great deal ofexperience in this area and therefore I couldn't say whether this is the norm or not.

what a great buy. just pay through western union to the nigerian account and the motor, in storage...or in italy at present (whatever the con is) will be sent to you.
if you want, you can overpay and they may even send you double the difference back!
    bonus. not.
Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000
current savings: 20,500 (target hit yippee!)
Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)

new target savings by Feb 2010: 30,000

Seriously what is the need for your arrogance?

I have explained very clearly that I simply do not hold a great deal of experience in this and therefore was wanting some clarification as I obviously had some initial doubts.

Rather than just make a quick post telling me your opinion that you think it is not legit or something you actually go to to the extent of making a totally ignorant fool out of yourself.

If you can't just try and be helpful without some stuck up attitude I think I would rather you didn't give me any help at all.
  • i think people are trying to help you help yourself, explaining in a round about fashion what the scam is

Just look at the rest of the cars of the spec, they have theirs low price to attract your attention

its a scam, you know something is wrong otherwise you wouldnt be asking
  • You obviously know its a scam or you would have brought it.

Its probably George Agdugdagwengo again. He'll be telling you you have a pidgeon in your bank account next and needs you account number and sort code so he can get inside and clear it out.

to put it simply and nicely,99.99% it is a scam, later emails would suggest using an 'escrow' service and he will say it is safe as he wont get the money till you get the car, anyways the escrow servioce he suggest will be bogus,

cars 'in' Italy seems a favourite for the scammers at the mo,
