so i ring the cancelation department to confirm that my request has gone through as i am switching to talk talk.
i start speaking to someone, who then informs me as well as my cancelation fee i have to pay £25 on top of that(something to do with not requesting a mac code), now no one has mentioned that, i flippently just said well i won't be paying that expecting to continue on with some other questions i had.
He then said getting a little irrate that if i don't pay it, it will be passed to debt collecters, so i just commented thats not a problem for me wanting to move on with the conversation but he just continued talking over me, louder and ruder telling me that i had to pay.
I just was gob smacked that i was being talked to like this and kept asking over and over to be put onto someone senior, he refused to do this for me and just kept going on and on and wouldn't let me get a word in! so i said can you please put me through to a different collegue if you won't forward me to your manager as you are pushing my buttons and im finding it hard not to be rude.... so he put me through to india..
I've since spoken to numerous very nice and polite people in india, who clearly dont have a clue what i was complaining about. one lovely lady even offered to email me an apology on the ude guys behalf?!
I eventually went onto there online live help as i really wanted to make sure the call was investigated and i got a nice lady who helped a little and assured me that her manager was contacting the department to get it investigated.
I asked for it in writing that it was being investigated and to be told of any outcome ( understandly i was told that was not allowed due to privacy rights) but i think basically i was fobbed off again!
i'm expecting a call from her manager in the next 24hours to discuss this but i dont feel like its getting any where?
idealy i think i should have compensation of some sort, but after reading a few threads on here i'm guessing thats unlikely? is it worth persuing or should i just forget about it? i'm only with them for another week!

What were you thinking ... a week in the carribbean to get over the stress of it?
Oh hang on, what if he'd been talking to a child - you need to make a point in case a child ever calls up.
You're over it already - put it down to a bad hair day!0 -
The £25 is in their t&c's, and don't throw the router away, or that will cost you if you don't send it back when asked.0

Nothing surprises me about bt anymore a lot of their staff are rude and most doing have a clue what they rant about ..your doing the right thing by complaining and moving your business else where .~We are all going to hell and guess who Is driving the bus~*Norn Iron club Member 294* (Hi, we’ve had to remove part of your signature. Forget about it. I spent over a year banging my head off a brick wall with BT. It also cost me money in calls & I was just cut off - often.
Just forget about BT - they're not worth the agro - they promise this & that & just don't follow through. You could end up getting really hacked off & still get no where.0 -

Why do you feel you should get compensation? He told you about a fee which you were due to pay according to their T&Cs and you verbally refused to pay it. He pointed out that if you didn't you'd be passed to the debt collection department. I can't see what the problem is there.
As for compensation - for what? The entire situation was of your own making by refusing to listen and you've suffered no loss or injury.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

As most others have said, compensation for what, exactly?
The charges are quite clear in the T&Cs (https://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerOrders/control/termsandconditions?docId=28234&pageTitle=Terms%20and%20Conditions) if you choose not to read them it's hardly BT's fault.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

How about for being shouted at and spoken over my someone? i'm a customer and i deserve to be spoken to with respect. i was perfectly polite didn't scream and rage that i wasn't going to pay it i made a flippent comment that maybe i shouldn't of but i certainly wont be paying it after being spoken to like that.
It was completely unnecessary on his behalf and im completely shocked some of you think that it was ok?!
no i am not talking a weeks holiday as compensation but a good will gesture at the very least in my books would be appropriate!
I find some of your replies quite patronising to be honest, i posted for advice not to be patronised!0 -

I would have thought that was obvious.
The OP needs compensation for not being told at the start of the contract that he needs to READ the T&Cs and not just tick the 'I agree' box. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
