Cheapest Nokia 7600 PAYT?
Hi there, i've been keeping an eye on the Nokia 7600 and saw it on Amazon a few times b4 xmas for very reasonable prices, it was often out of stock but the other day it was in stock in I think it was seventy-ish pounds....
my bf mentioned that he is looking to get one but now when I look on Amazon they are approx £90... i know this is still cheaper than a lot of sites but as i know it is dearer than what it was fairly recently I wondered if there were any other bargains to be had out there or if anyone knew whether it was worth waiting to see if the price goes down again on amazon??
any help appreciated!!
this is the link on amazon....

p.s anyone know if it is possible to unlock these phones for free?

it was £39.99, hasn't been over this for a few months, you probably saw a marketplace item.
they can be partially unlocked for free, but to remove the 3g signal checking requires a factory reset via cable0 -
Thanks for the reply, do you think it is worth waiting for a lower price deal to appear of is the £90 still tempting enough?
I'm not sure I understand what the implications of partially unlocking the phone are...?? (sorry, bit of a newbie!) does this mean my vodafone or O2 sim card would work okay or would i still get bad signal like 3 is in this area?
thanks for your help btw!

try ebay, i had some and sold them for about £75 - but mine were fully unlocked + reset, most go for around this or less and lots claim to be unlocked - whether they do the full unlock + reset or just the free code unlock is another matter.
basically if you currently live in an area with no 3g signal then any sim will work with the phone once it is code unlocked. If you live in an area with a 3g sim card, your normal sim may not work unless you get the phone reset which allows you to stop it searching for a 3g signal all together. 3 have blocked access to this setting, hence it needs a factory reset to remove this block.
to get a free unlock code see http://www.trycktill.com/unlock_swe.asp
i have written a simple guide on my website, although the website has good guidance anyway
http://www.blueghost.co.uk/unlock_guide/7600_guide.html#code
but as always there is a very small element of risk if you enter the wrong values, although most independant mobile retailers will be able to fix your phone if something does go wrong.
reesit mutton had a good article on his site, unfortunately he seems to have deleted it now.0 -
I've just checked back on amazon and they are selling from £50 - this looks like someone selling one on marketplace - i tried to buy one and it went through but then i got an email as follows:

if you are thinking of getting from the mobiles 4u person on amazon, see their feedback, their only feedback is from themselves - sounds a bit dodgy to me0
