Just popped into Tescos to get some milk, bread and paracatemol.

Spotted they had my fav deodorant on offer, so I bought 3. Also spotted a good deal on finish dishwasher tabs, so bought a packet.

    ERROR

Both offers scanned much higher at the till and I had to wait for half an hour while they sorted the refund.

Weird thing is, this is the 3rd time this has happened this year. So I hope everyone checks their reciepts. I'm forced into doing it now, I cant trust them.

    /rant over.
So you haven't been conned then

Indeed. Yet another post claiming a "con" or a "scam" when it was actually a MISTAKE.

I always add up the price in my head as I put items in. Once im at the checkout, I know what I expect the total should be, so can simply just get on with the packing. If anything else comes up in the price, I can then query that something must be wrong before paying and avoiding the hassle of having to return for a refund. Once I just left all the items right there, legally the contract is made when an offer is made for the goods (cashier gives you the total amount to pay - at which point you can decline to enter into the contract). The prices on shelfs (although I do realise are covered by Trade Descriptions Act) are purely invitations to buy - the contract is made at the checkout.

however, I think conned is the wrong word. Unless there is a conspiracy going on within Tesco.

The title implies you conned Tesco. ;)

As long as they rectified it, although waiting for half an hour while they did this would have had my blood boiling.
