Just popped into Tescos to get some milk, bread and paracatemol.
Spotted they had my fav deodorant on offer, so I bought 3. Also spotted a good deal on finish dishwasher tabs, so bought a packet.
ERROR
Both offers scanned much higher at the till and I had to wait for half an hour while they sorted the refund.
Weird thing is, this is the 3rd time this has happened this year. So I hope everyone checks their reciepts. I'm forced into doing it now, I cant trust them.
/rant over.

At Sainsburys they put a product on offer then move a similar looking but expensive product into its place, complete with offer labelling for the original product at the front of the shelf. Guess what the end result is...0

This seems to happen in all the big supermarkets, they would probably say its when an item has run out they are stocking a simular product in its place to "avoid customer disappointment".
They do don't they. I think it's disgusting, lots of people will pick the item up without realising - especially rushed mums or older people - and don't discover until they get home or never even. Supermarkets are so cynical and patronising of their customers. I can frequently be found putting things in their right places and moving them around if I find this - it makes me feel a bit better even if the staff immediately move them right back again because they notice the gap! At least I might have saved one person from being conned. Thinking of changing my name to Supermarket Guerilla or something like it - this is war!
Personally I check weights, barcodes, whatever I can, as well as asking staff to check for me. It happens so frequently.

I don't think it's that. At least I'm giving the Op the benefit of the doubt.
The discount signs are usually quite clear exactly which product is discounted. If someone saw a sign clearly saying "Brand X noodles half price" and there is only Brand Y noodles in the same place and you absent mindedly picked up Brand Y, I don't imagine they would be rude enough to claim it wasn't their own fault.
I am assuming the OP is a decent polite person, and talking about a discount that clearly abd specifically mentioned the product they picked up.0 -
The issue for me, is that the correct product was on the shelf with a huge yellow sign stating price. That price wasnt charged at the till.
However I agree with the bad practice done by most supermarkets designed to 'con' you into buying the wrong product or a more expensive one.0 -

You should be pleased, not cross. Because you got a refund of double the difference, right?0
