Being made redundant whilst pregnant Help!!!

Hi I was wondering if you wonderful intelligent people could assist. One of the girls (shall we call X) who works with my mum is pregnant I believe she is 29weeks tomorrow and they have found out this week that they could all be made redundant around Feb time next year. Basically they work in a coffee house which they sub let the area from the store who rent the full unit from a shopping centre. The store who rent are moving and the owner of the coffee house doesnt think the new company taking the lease will want them in their as he believes it may be a clothes shop so with the smell its unlikely. This girl is really worried now and isnt sure what she is entitled to the manager at work(not the owner) is pressuring her into starting her maternity leave early as he is an !!!! and wants them all out(although this has backfired now due to them all being made redundant) X is fine to work she occasionally gets tired from standing but takes regular breaks when needed and doesnt really want to start maternity until she really has to to spend more time with the baby afterwards.
Does anyone know what she is entitled to in terms of maternity pay. If she started her maternity in Feb and then was made redundant a week or so afterwards who would pay her maternity? or if she was made redundant before she went on maternity who would pay it then? Is she still entitled to maternity or do you think she would be better going on mat leave now?
If I haven't been clear or you need any other info just ask.

It is difficult to comment on your particallar questions but we had the same situation in our office. A girl was 20 weeks gone and she told the guys at head office, they were planning to make redudancies any way - she was intitled to her reduancy pay (our office policy is 1 week per year of service) plus her full maternity policy pay (our office policy is first 6 weeks at 90% pay and then a further 33 weeks at SMP.

Hi I was made redundant when I was 29 weeks pregnant, basically as long as your employed by the company from the beginning of your pregnancy until the 25th week of pregnancy they are legally obliged to pay the womans SMP, So basically if your friend is still wanting to work I would advise her to carry on working, as it doesnt matter now as she will still get smp from them. Also if she gets made redundant after mat leave started they have to carry on paying SMP.
So either way the company will pay her maternity pay. Hope that helps?0 -

From the information I got on the internet I thought that she would still get her maternity from the company regardless to when she started as she has been there for 4years so before she got pregnant.
