Can anyone tell me if Orange can pass on the debt to a debt recovery agency for £17.50 if they cannot supply a bill itemising where the money is owed?
They say they 'do not do' paper billing , yet they sent me a threatening letter on paper..:rotfl:
They can't supply me the bill via the internet because they have cut my broadband off.( but they can read it out to me over the phone):T
I haven't noticed they have cut me off because I had already changed supplier 3 months ago!
I have asked for a bill .. they say they can,t send one.
Thanks

Quick update ..
now they are supplying a paper bill in the next 3 to 5 days.
GO ORANGE.. YOU KNOW YOU CAN DO IT IF YOU REALLY TRY!0 -
IANAL but if they can't supply a bill I fail to see how they can complain if you don't pay one.
That said if you just cancelled the DD before they took their final payment which may be for a period when you were not connected because they required a notice period they may well have a valid claim.0 -
kwikbreaks..
sorry I was ranting a bit there ..
Contacted OFTEL in Sept re Oranges extra 1 month bill sent via email in Sept. OFTEL gave me a reference number and head office number for Orange saying it was unfair to expect a customer to pay for a service we were not aware of and would not use as we had changed broadband suppliers. New suppliers had notified of the change from the 7/8 and there was a problem between Orange and the people who notify them of the change, MAC code? Not sure what they are called but OFTEL said that was between them and Orange to sort out.
Orange head office called me back 3 working days later to let me know that no charges were outstanding.
3 months later we get a threatening letter from Orange saying we owe the £17 and if we don't pay by 11/12 a debt collecting agency will become involved..
best bit is the letter doesn't even tell us what the debt relates to apart from we had Broadband supplied by them and they had now cut us off.!
Asked for a bill .. no bill avaliable.. they don't do paper bills.
Phoned them again tonight and finally after asking them to send the bill to my email addy (which hasn't changed) they are now sending me an itemised bill on paper..
When they can find their crayons...:rotfl:
