Halifax Idiots!

My mum called earlier to say Halifax have left 4 messages on the phone for me (bearing in mind I havent lived there for 6 months and updated all my contact details on their website!)

Anyway, turns out they think I havent paid my bill this month. Payment was due on the 8th and i've re-checked my bank account and the payment left my account on 2nd december so in plenty of time. Turns out the payment was being 'held' in a suspention account. They tried to blame me for having the wrong account details for them (they were right) not putting my credit card number as reference (i did) and then blaming the account that I had sent it from even though it has come from there every month for the past 3 years and shouldnt make the slightest difference where the bloody money is coming from as long as they get it!

The woman made it sound like such a chore to be crediting the late fee and interest to my account, even though i'd done nothing wrong.

I know its nothing major but just really winds me up that not once did anyone say sorry for THEIR mistake.

Right, rant over.....................and breathe!

But if you had the wrong account details for them how is it their fault?

Thats the way i read it the first time! I think what the OP is trying to say is that they actually got them correct.

You broke your contract and never paid them. That person who phoned you was just doing their job (to pay their bills).

Pay your bills or blame yourself.

Wow the attitude of people on here is unbelievable! If you stop for one second and READ my post its says that the bill was paid on 2nd and wasnt due until the 8th. Not quite sure how that is me breaking and contract or not paying.

I understand they have a job to do, and mistakes happen - the worst bit was the complete lack of apologies for their error and the fact that for the moment my credit score is affected with this non payment even though i paid!

So thanks for all your helpful comments!

Sorry, it's just your message was confusing:

"They tried to blame me for having the wrong account details for them (they were right)"

I read this as "Halifax were right - I DID have the wrong account details'. Which is why I asked my question.

Now I understand it, yes, you have my sympathy. Very annoying.

Sorry Sarah it wasnt you i was getting at! I read it again and see that the way i wrote it was a bit confusing. But i did mean that I had got all the details correct and that Halifax are useless!!
  • Guy comes on here to vent. People jump on him.
Wouldn't worry about it mate. There's a few on here that want to barge in with their opinions before they've confirmed the facts.

Good old Halifax mess it up again! I have recently took on Halifax CC for a friend of ours - they were charging him for being over his limit - but they were the ones that reducing his limit and then adding fees on after, which took him over the limit again!!! Anyway, we successfully got all these fees back, which resulted in him being £300 in credit on his card and them then paying out this money back to him.

When his next statement came through, they had charged him for not making a payment. I rang and asked them how they could do this and they had the cheek to say 'any payments we make do not count'!!!!!

Needless to say, I told them that this was not acceptable as the account was a zero balance 6 days before payment was due. The bloke eventually said 'as a goodwill gesture' they would cancel the latest charge - gee thanks.

Anyway, the account was also cancelled the same day!

Suspention? Didn't make sense and neither did your post. If they didn't get the money then you broke the T&Cs. If you're saying they didn't get the money because of their fault then that's not your fault obviously.

If your type messages on here that look like you're using and iPhone whilst looking through the bottom of an Irn Bru bottle people will misunderstand.

    Obviously.
