not sure I understand that, surely if you have paid £300 you will get £300 back, claiming more that you have paid out would be fraudulent or have I misunderstood?

He shouldn't be  If he had booked and paid with credit card he could have made some quick money.

I've flown with then twice and was booked up for July 2010...Paid for 3 tickets (deposit £300+) on credit card. I am now in the process of contacting credit card company to claim back over £2100 :T No one likes to see folk out of jobs but for some of us there is a silver lining.

What if I only used the credit card to pay the deposit?
This is not a problem. It is the agreed price of the whole contract that determines hom much is at stake - not the size of the deposit. For example: a customer goes to buy a boat priced £10,000. The sale is agreed and the customer pays £50 deposit on a credit card. The boat leaks! Both the credit card company and the seller could be liable for the breach of contract. The credit card company could be liable for the full amount of the claim, their liability is not limited to the size of the deposit.

...I understand you do not need to pay 100% on the credit card for the credit card company to be equally liable - £100 on card, £500 in cash - credit card company could have to give you £600 back but surely if the balance is never paid then you cannot claim back what you never paid out...

Its what the contract was for, not what was handed over they are liable for it seems....

Yes it is for the Total amount, not for what was paid on the card. I heard this last year on GMTV from Martin himself so I assume that information still stands. :T

It does sound unbelilevable and Martin did admit that on GMTV, but he went on to say it is a fact. Since then I have always used my card to pay for goods over £100. You never know when something could go wrong.

Could you not have worded your post a bit better than that.People are losing there hoidays who are due to go next week and your bragging about making money from this. A bit insensitive. You could have just advised the forum what they were entitled to claim instead of the clapping and cheers.

I suppose I could have but I didn't, of course I'm happy about my own situation.

I understand folk are losing money because of the way they paid for their flights/holidays and I am very sorry for them. But like the bank charges, there are winners and losers and hopefully with my post it now brings some hope to those who paid with credit card. I'm sure many more folk will now use credit cards for future purchases if they did not know of this protection before.
