I saw the RRP of £425 a while ago and thought it was steep.
Play.com are doing preorders for the PS3 now at £550. They are not guaranteeing delivery for christmas because they say there may be a shortage. I spoke to the boy about this, and even he's going to wait for this one.How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I think its best to wait a good 6mths at least, I mean some of the bugs will be ironed out and also the price will come down, Im deffo going to wait I have a slimline PS2 and I really cant see the point in upgrading just yet, but I will do when the price comes down to about the £200 mark, I mean if it comes down to that price that just means its only worth that in the beginning and Sony have ripped off a load of people. OT: Quincy is one of my favourite TV characters ever. I'm 24 and all of my friends absolutely hate him!Barclaycard - £489.74 / £500.00

£550 - eek! Yep Id be waiting until they come down!
The old buy em first and flog on ebay routine? Well it seems Sony are beating you at this game by starting them already at a crazy price. To make it worth the hassle/risk your gonna have to sell it at like £700? Not sure you'd get many takers, only the real crazy fans are gonna be buying them at the start so not sure youd have a good market. And if you dont shift em quick you stand to lose a lot...
..also, it kinda sucks, you are essentially scamming real fans out of money. I guess not illegal, but morally indefensible, capatalism at its lowest eb. But so typical of todays 'me' society.heybigspender2006 wrote:OT: Quincy is one of my favourite TV characters ever. I'm 24 and all of my friends absolutely hate him!
Yep but thats because Jack Klugman is a cross dresser and thats what you look for in a man

It's normal console pricing. Launch at a mega-price and all the people who can afford it at that price will buy it. Then drop it a bit and get a new set of customers. Drop it again and get even more and so on. That way they cream off as much money as possible.
I'm not going to bother until at least 2007 when GTA-4 comes out (listed under "Coming Soon" on Play.com for release in October 2007!). But it'll still be price dependant. I'll not pay over £200 for it, and if games are going to stick at £50 then that's a bit much... thank god for second hand games!0 -

Am not scamming anyone if someone is willing to pay over the odds for it than i would rather make the money rather than sony who have far to much of it. Plus im not forcing them to buy it i am just supplying what they want. LOVE LIFE PROCEED & PROGRESS0 -

but the power is ther in PC gaming, and has been utilised, if there is innvoation in graphics and/or powerr, they have probably been used by PC games makers for years before the console counterparts can do that.wolfman wrote:It's not always as black and white as graphics vs innovation though. The 360 and even more so, PS3 are very powerful machines. This alone can help innovation as game makers can build bigger, better, more realistic games. Basically gives them more to play with.
I think Wii will certainly prove though that games don't have to have the latest graphics/physic engine etc... to be playable, basically due to it's controller. Potentially a case of not the games changing much, but actually the way in which the user plays them being the big difference.
Will be interesting to see how it all pans out.Dead_Eye_Jones wrote:..also, it kinda sucks, you are essentially scamming real fans out of money. I guess not illegal, but morally indefensible, capatalism at its lowest eb. But so typical of todays 'me' society.
not really, diehard fans will have preordered one at the same time as everyone else.
When i sold a few 360s (on the day of release) the only people buying them were rich parents who wanted them for their 10 year old kid.0 -

Kind of along what I meant, but power is always increasing. Just take Oblivion for example. A game which most likely isn't possible on the Xbox or PS2. The 360 however, is capable of such a game. By being more powerful it allows game makers to do more. And by having less restrictions it can inturn help innovate new ideas.
From what I can gather the Wii is trying to strike a balance between power and user interaction, whereas Sony seem to be purely going for a powerful machine. Like anything though a console is only as good as the games it has (unless you're into modding/homebrew!) so only time will tell."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
