UGG boots fell to bits

My Daughters BF bought her some Ugg's a few months ago from the internet. No idea if they were genuine, but they looked like they might be. Within months they had split. I took them to the shoe repairer who said they could not be repaired. He said Uggs are very poorly made always falling apart.
Is this true?

tbh yes it is because using them here in the uk is not the climate or usage they were intended for in origional design, they have very little support etc (have a look at the people wearing them out shopping etc you will be surprised at the number of people wearing and walking the back of the ankle down on them. which eventually wears them out.
however the origionals seem to be more sturdy than the cheaper copies, they were designed origionally in australia in the mid 70's for surfers to use when they get out the water so they can keep warm, not have to put socks on etc to get to and from the car across the beach etc, and what was a practical item for that use, has become a fashion accessoryMFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -

No idea, E bay from Australia, I know that much. Anna is probably right and concurs with the shoe repair man, they are not designed for England in the winter...They are only sheepskin after all. My slippers are sheepskin and I would not wear them to townNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
I wear my uggs every day in the winter and have done now for two years!
IF they are the real deal, you should be able to wear them provided you scotchguard them, with the appropriate UGG solution.
GENUINE Uggs DO NOT wear down at the back OR have the soles slope, this is a sure way of telling a fake!!
I would be VERY SURPRISED if the boots in question were genuine as UGGs are normally pretty bombproof, the problem comes from people believing they have the real deal, and then having problems.
Why not send them off to Ugg???
They will clarify any queries you have and put them right if they are genuine??0 -

I have 3 pairs of genuine Uggs. One pair (my scruffs) are classic tall Uggs that I have been wearing for probably 3 years now. The backs are still solid, they are still warm and cozy and the only sign of wear is the soles.
I suggest she got fakes as I have never known a pair of Uggs to split.
Genuine Uggs are completely designed for a UK winter! Spray them with Water proofer and they will serve you well. Warm, cozy AND dry.0 -
could be faulty boots , or i suspect fake , i have never had a genuine pair of uggs fail , but my daughter who doesn't look after hers , did complain to me that the stitching had come undone a couple of weeks ago , so i just sowed them up for her best i could and there fine , but she has had them ages and goes out in torresiol rain in them , so i gues thats why hers did this , another thing for ripping would be wearing them too small sheepskin stretches but it can only stretch so much before it would tear0

Wilkinsons do water repellant shoe spray for £1.65. I don't know if that is the same as UGG protector?
I expect my daughter got fake Uggs. I just wondered if anyone else had problems with fake or real falling apart?NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -

Hi, UGG do their own protector, I got mine from Office, which is where I got my boots from, most Ugg stockists sell the protector, and you can buy it on the internet!0 -
If they are from ebay, they are most definitely fake as Ugg do not allow any genuine retailer to sell on Ebay.
I have 2 pairs both of which are regularly worn and show no sign of wear and tear. They are made to be sturdy. If you want to check if they are genuine take them to a stockist and ask them to check (for example, john lewis), they can compare them with a real pair and you'll see straight away.:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0
