How do Sky get away with it?

Sky offered me a special deal of a movie package for £5.00 a month, for 2 months......
When I rang up to cancel they told me it has a 31 day cancellation notice & will have to run another month.....
When I took up the offer I asked the Sky adviser if I needed to ring to cancel if i didn't want to carry on with the movie channels. He didn't tell me i needed to ring 31 days before. I also asked him, if I rang on the last day would there be only £10.00 to pay & he said yes.... I really did interrogate him because they have stung me before..... I have told them I want to cancel the whole Sky subscription but they won't have it & are running it another month.
If refuse to pay any more will they put me on the bad credit list?

If you don't pay, and they chase you for it, there's no doubt it WILL affect your credit rating.
• Sky has ripped me off in the past, and so has virgin - that's why I stick with freeview now.
Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!

Sky doesnt rip you off, its a case of reading the terms and conditions properly.
Its the customers responsibility to read these before siging up. You tick a box to
say you understnad the t & C' why do you sign it if you havent.

Ive been with Sky 20 years and never had a problem.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Yep, lots of good stuff on Freeview, but where do you get the £120/month from?. I have Sky HD with multi-room and have movies + sport & don't pay that much.

Most of these special offers are conducted over the phone and the OP did ask and was told teh answers to his specific questions.
OP lodge a formal complaint and ask them to review the 'Recorded for training purposes' call. They will soon change their mind.

Just try and cancel and see what happens.
• We have canceled with Sky & stopped all payments..... I don't mind paying the 31 day cancellation notice for the original package but not for the special movies offer.....
Free view has enough to keep us happy now so "GOODBYE SKY! you will not be missed!!!"
• I transferred to Virgin because of my mother being mis sold a package from Sky. They hide behind pages of terms and conditions and small print to allow them to allow the unethical mis selling of their sales people (not all of them). I think this area needs regulating. Happy with Virgin service now, will never go back to Sky.
