Hello all! Sorry been AWOL again, not much happening in the debt busting world of keza. I'm coming to the end of my stressful challenge now and cannot wait to be done with it!
I'm going to pay off granddad this payday very happily – it’s been very helpful of him to lend me the money interest free. I'm very lucky. As with the Credit card in other half’s name – again I have been very lucky to have someone do this for me interest free as I couldn’t do it myself. It has saved me thousands in the long run no doubt!

So next steps for me over the next week or so are to pay off granddad on the 25th. My bonus should be confirmed next week so then I will know exactly what I can pay off the virgin card on payday. Then it will be hopefully the finial £500 to clear in April! And joy of joys I should be debt free!

Got some bits on ebay I hope to shift for another £20 or so this week. That can go towards the virgin card or savings for the wedding!

My wedding is exactly 8 months today by the date and by the day! It’s edging ever nearer and I'm so excited! Can’t wait to get the rest of the bits sorted and then just look forward to the big day! xxx

Well I just wanted to throw in an update today. Little much is happening on the debt front – have some ebay items ending tomorrow evening, payday isn’t until next week and no news as yet on the bonus front. :(
On a good note I have managed to keep the shopping for this month well under budget, with one week to go and LOADS of food still in the house, we have still only spent £82 on the shopping so far! Woohoo! This is like a record for us! So I just have to be sensible next week and I think we will have done it! That means some extra pennies to the debt!

Got HM cheese and potato pie for lunch and a HM flapjack for a snack, nice and healthy (except the cheese) and most of all they were mega CHEAP!

I'm enjoying this frugal old style living ! :)

    Hi Keza,

Thanks for your posting on my diary. I follow yours when you post but not always comment, I'm just far too lazy typing nowadays :). But you're doing so well, I can really see the numbers shrinking. How is the wedding going? Have you ordered the bridesmaids' dresses yet? Post a picture if you have one!

I better go now but try to visit your diary more often.
    Take care,
    k.

I like getting things for free! But I like even better getting paid to have things for free!

Because my sister orders LOADS from my home shopping catalogue, I just sit back and watch the rewards on my account add up (aswell as cashback from Topcashback at 8%). I had £82 this morning so I ordered a lovely Mischa Barton handbag which is £73 for nothing! Plus I went thru Topcashback and got 8% cashback! I feel very pleased and very MSE this morning! It’s rare that I get to have an expensive handbag nowadays as I can’t justify the price for one etc but when it’s free its fab!

OH is moaning as I did say id get us a new house phone with my cashback but hey, if I wanna treat myself, then I'm gonna treat myself! :)

Still no news on the bonus front – starting to get some sort of new plan together so that the debt remaining wont interfere with my wedding plans. I think if I don’t get a bonus I will have £3k outstanding which I will leave as os with Grandad. Interest free that way and I will have to just gradually chip away at it.

Managed to keep the shopping down to £100 this month but we still have a freezer full of food, so I'm on a mission to get the shopping under £50 next month, then that’s an extra £50 I can pay off granddad :) xxx

Oh, yes, I love cashback sites ;). I have £145 sitting on quidco, it's paying out on the 31st. OH thinks it's a waste of time going through them but hey, look how much you can get back! I order everything through quidco nowadays ;).

When will you have news about bonus? Shame that you still don't know anything about it. Debt will disappear in no time, believe me, I just got a letter from Lloyds at the weekend that they closed my loan account for good, I'm just so happy. We are now on phase 2, saving up for family house!!! But WHERE??? Can't make a decision!!!

Wanted to ask you before, how was JLS concert? Was it worth?

Hi all! Unfortunately due to a massive claim, our company isn’t giving out any big expected bonuses so that’s my debt free date smashed to smithereens as we all know it was kind of resting on the bonus to finish it off! A bonus isn’t ruled out so if I do get one, any little will help. But I need to plan in the case of there not being a bonus.

So, now what to do? Well, ive still got in place the agreement to leave £1,000 outstanding with granddad until my injury claim pays out (which is no nearer resolution btw) but that’s interest free and he doesn’t mind waiting for it. That leaves £2,000 on the virgin card (as of original debt free date). So, now I'm going to move wedding savings to the forefront as its almost 7 months away and I still need £5k for it! I will just be paying £50 a month off virgin and any extra ebay sales etc; Then I hope to still have it cleared before the wedding date.

So yes I have not made my debt free date of 23rd April 2010, but I have brought my debt down from £12,000 in July to just £3,000 in April – something I never thought id achieve or see! So I haven’t failed, ive just moved the goal post and my god do I feel good for it! I'm comfortable with the level of debt now and its certainly more than manageable for me now so I'm going to just chip away at my own pace now and bring my big day up the priority list and move debt from the number one spot where it has been for over 7 years! Yay me! :)

P.s – Kavics – haven’t been to see JLS yet – the concerts in December :)

Does this mean that I won the challenge? :j:beer:;):D
Seriously, you have done so well, don't be sad about not getting the bonus, you will beat this debt, I'm sure. Agree that wedding saving is priority now, than after that you can tackle the remaining debt. And as you said, reducing the amount and living the way you've been living was already a huge challenge!

:osorry about JLS concert:o-you see, I'm not a huge fan:D. I only bought one concert ticket in my life, Michael Jackson, and he died before I had the chance to see him . So no more concert tickets for me:D. Though I try to book Grease tickets for my OH's birthday in April, just need to find a :money:deal.
