How did you decide on yours and how much did finance inform your choice?

  • I am fascinated by many subjects but since learning about NLP through completely unrelated circumstances, I've been fascinated by psychology and have plans to work in this field once I've got my degree.
  • I'd always known the degree I would opt for. Although in the two years of A levels I did wonder about other areas I still felt I'd enjoy a legal career most and opted for law. Finance wasn't a factor in my decision at all. I find it hard to believe people feel so concerned about finances that it affects their choice of undergraduate degree, perhaps the location but not the course itself. The loans and grants on offer are more than adequate.
  • I never wanted to study anything else other than Literature and I wouldn't have been affected by the career options afterwards.
  • I started out doing a vaguely "professional" course at uni - Early Years. It didn't lead to a teaching qualification and was very boring so I swapped to History after my 1st year and loved it. It was my favourite subject all through school and college, I'm still eligible to train to teach and it was far less tedious.

I am doing Games Programming. I've already loved games. I've always loved programming. Seemed the right idea :p
  • I chose History because I was good at it, enjoyed it and it was a respected degree. Also, I didn't know what I wanted to do career-wise and you can do loads of different jobs with History. Finance didn't come into it, although I was aware that by going down the arts route I wasn't likely to be earning big bucks! :p

I chose Business Studies, because it was such a wide subject. Many different aspects were included into this degree.

Also, the success rate for this degree is rather high, and because it is a sandwich degree, i get a full time paid job in year three that counts as 120 credits :)

I chose Biology as I loved it at A level and thought it had lots of options afterwards. I haven't used it since in any jobs but I had a great time doing it and learnt lots of general skills.

I chose Civil Engineering as I knew I wanted to go to uni, but didn't really know what subject to study. I had read that many engineering graduates go into management outside of the engineering world, so thought it would keep my options open.

After my first year I lost a bit of interest in wanting to be a civil engineer, but stuck with it and am glad I did. I work in finance now and find it much more interesting and it is a role that required a degree.

  • I chose Primary Education because I am absolutely certain I want to be a primary school teacher.
