Another vote for Lidl's own brand - use both the colour liquid and bio powder. Have used tabs in the past from Lidl and also been pleased.

I use Costco's own brand (Kirkland) - it's £10.79 + vat for a 12.7kg bucket which will do 400 washes (don't know if it does but it lasts months). It's bulky so I keep the bucket in the garage and fill a tupperware box every week which I keep my the washing machine. I've found it to be much more efficient at getting out bad stains than any of the bigger names. It felt like a step back moving from tabs and gel pouches to powder but I think it's great value.
The bucket and lid is also pretty useful too once the powder is gone:D

  • Bold all in one gets my vote! (I stock up when on offer)
    Tried others Daz...rubbish. Ariel...irritates DS3 skin.
    Persil washes okay.
Kids always comment on clean sheets night if i use bold!!!:j

I use the Bettabuy red box Biological powder from Morrisons.. ridiculously cheap for 30+ washes and brill results. I tried Lidl powder but prefer Morrisons. As for fabric softener, I buy anything thats on special.. currently Lenor.. and I find the scent lasts about 5 days.

I've switched to surf concentrate liquid, and I'm finding you only need half a capful to get a whole load clean and smelling gorgeous, and a bottle lasts for ages! Don't think I will go back to tablets or anything else now.
I agree the smell is fab, love it:D

The last box I bought was Persil non Bio, huge says 90 washes on the box. Paid £9.99 in Booker's over a year ago, it's almost gone now so looking for another long lasting replacement lol. Probably go to Booker's again but will see if they have Bold 2 in 1 as our water pressure isn't high enough to use the fabric softener drawer, and I've put up with crunchy clothes for a year now lol.

Ariel is the best by far if you want your whites up white lol!!

I did buy Morrisons own brand liquid tabs the other week and they are quite good too. They were only about £1.60 and although they arent as good as ariel they are fab on the darker clothes and have a nice scent.

Ariel with febreze is good too, I can wash, dry and iron the bedding, store it and get it out at a later date and the stuff still smells freshly washed!!

In my opinion I would go for the new washing gels rather than the powder, the take up less room and wash just as good if not better.

Now that I wash most things at lower temps I prefer liquid to powder, as there is less chance of it not dissolving properly.
I only ever use Persil or Ariel and I agree that the new Persil small and mighty is VG. The small size is currently less than half price at £1.98 at Sainsbuys. I'd been stocking up on the large(42 wash) size at £4, but this is even cheaper - and also means you can easily buy the various types-bio, non-bio, colours etc. As you only need a small cap-ful 'portion control' is v easy too!

I love Sainburys non bio. I swear its as good as Persil and doesn't affect DD eczma like some of the other own brands do. I have also used soda crystals when I need to be very moneysaving and find they do a perfectly good job, but you just don't get the nice smell that you would from washing powder. (Though I suppose that could be remedied using essential oils).
