Nope. Just had them on the phone. They said I'll have to get a sick note for this period until they decide to let me back. I'm beconing stressed again. I really don't think the Doctor is going to issue a sick note when he's said I'm fit.
What would happen if you said you can't have a sick note; because you are not sick and thus will be reporting for duty at 08hundred hours tomorrow [or whatever your usual start time is]?

Had PF as well, initially told it was untreatable but could get pain killers for it. Saw another GP who sent me to a holistic clinic where I had acupuncture and fitted with an insole - week later cured. Had it back for a day now and again but that was 5 years ago.You cant take the trousers off an elephant!1

as people have said the company are doing it so that they are covered just in case what you tell them is differant to what should happen.
As for what you get paid then yes contact ACAS, I can see their point though about the sick note running out not being valid because as far as they know you could have just not returned to the dr and let it run out.Always ask ACAS1 -
The doctors can only say the OP should not refrain from work. The drugs they have prescribe can cause dizziness. Not a chance the doctors will give a letter stating he is 100% fit to drive.
He will need a OH check I would imagine and even then I wouldnt be overly confident he will be allowed back.0 -
I dont understand why a letter needs to be written by the Doctor. My work insisted on a fit note even after my sick note expired and the Doc just filled in a form similar to the sick note took seconds.:j0

Because he is on medication which can cause dizziness and drives heavy equipment maybe.:rolleyes:0 -
The reason is that if they put someone behind the wheel of a car (or van?) knowing that he is taking prescribed medication that can cause drowsiness and dizziness, and possibly also has a painful foot that might affect his reactions in the case of an emergency, and he then has an accident in which (heaven forbid) someone is killed, the directors of the company would potentially be facing a corporate manslaughter charge and could go to prison.
In those circumstances it seems perfectly reasonable to me that they would want to get it in writing not only that he is generally fit for work, but that he is fit to do the particular job that he is employed to do.
Sometimes employers refuse to allow an employee to return to work until the occupational health doctor has certified them as fit to do so, even though their own GP has given them the all-clear.That in itself, is not unreasonable. BUT if that happens, the employee should be paid at their normal rate (as opposed to sick pay) as the employee is being prevented from working by the employer.
