Iphone and bluetooth

I was reading reviews and most of them say the Iphone's bluetooth is useless. But these were mainly from over a year ago. Has this still not been corrected? Can you still not send a file from an Iphone to another bluetooth device (bluetooth phone or computer)? I think that's a fairly massive thing to be missing out on. Do all files need to be transferred over a cable? This can't be right.
Iphone and sim card :
Currently I am able to send texts via my computer with the Nokia PC Suite software. I accept I won't be able to do this if I get an Iphone - but would I be able to take the sim card out my Iphone and use it in my old phone. It would be once a week I'd need to take the card out if it was possible or would then taking it out and putting it back in eventually damage the mechanics of the Iphone.
How long does a battery last in an Iphone as I understand you have to send the phone back to them to have a new battery fitted.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help me with the above - I really want to get an Iphone but the more I read about them the more I find out how limited they really are.

As far as I'm aware the bluetooth isn't so much useless though you need to make sure the device you intend to use it with is compatible.
The bluetooth has been 'updated' by Apple which means you can't use it just anywhere. As far as I'm aware the new 3GSs haven't updated this.
I've overcome this by simply plugging the iPhone into my laptop to bluetooth pictures from there.
BNew Years resolutions...don't get my signature removed and set up an A-Team style MSE crack survival team. P.S Apparently mrb1 and David 32 hate me. This makes me sad

There something like 7 bluetooth protocols and the only ones that Apple have included in the iPhone are the ones for headsets. They claim that they haven't included 'object push' (of sending and receiving files, pics etc to stop people buying tracks on itunes and then sending them on. . .0

I've had an iPhone, and the battery has been fine and I've not needed to send it off anywhere..
