Things like this really make me cross. I have a friend who was new to ebay and put in the wrong (high) figure by mistake. It was late at night and he didn't want to phone me until the morning when he admitted he'd had a sleepless night worrying about it and thinking he'd have to pay. Luckily he managed to retract the bid as the auction hadn't finished.

But how often do they win their "own" auctions if you understand me?

depends on how often they are unhappy with the price

makes me laugh tho when they repeatedly win their own auctions because of the fees they must be forking out over the time
See the stars they’re shining bright
    Everything’s alright tonight

Going back to the original problem, all the buyer can do is hope the seller gets suspended for shill bidding as that way they can't NPB her. If the seller remains a seller then just tell the buyer to refuse to pay, and take the resulting NPB and neg on the chin.

I admit i'm a total novice when it comes to ebay, however a week or so ago while my son and i where browsing I went to answer the phone and the silly sod put a bid on something for £217 instead of £2.17 :eek::eek: i didn't even realise until i received a winning email confirmation and totally flipped out, I contacted the seller and explained what had happened and asked if it would be possible for them to offer the item to the next lowest bidder. I can't say they where best pleased with me but they did agree and let me off paying.

Thank the !!!!!!! lord or there would have been murder in my house :mad::mad:

I'd suggest explaining to the seller what's happened then if theres no joy from them, refuse to pay such a silly amount and except the negative mark adding your side to it.

the seller surely cant imagine that anyone would put such a ridiculous bid intentionally on a pair of pj's it's unthinkable.

I admit i've no idea what shill bidding is ???

I send my love and best wishes to the bidder tho xxx
Nobody can make you feel inferior, without your permission ;)

Love doesn't make the world go round, it's what makes the ride worthwhile

    ya still freezing :p

  • rush, it seems likley that the buyer was a little bit naughty pushing the price up with another user name, that's what shill bidding is

    Anyone reported this yet?

    Hi,

I have just asked the highest bidder why she has left feedback already - has she been sent the item up-front (maybe to force the issue of payment)?

Will await her reply tomorrow (she had already told me she has now reported the problem and has not paid).

I will keep an eye on it and advise her what everyone has said, I'm pretty sure it's shill bidding now so this needs to be made clear to eBay (rather than the problem of her typo!).

If necessary I will also report it (I have had one seller removed in a similar situation before which was also an auction nowt to do with me.....guess I'm just nosy!).

Thanks for all your help peeps! :T

No reply yet to my last email, can't understand why she left feedback. Want to know this first from her before I advise her any more!
